RPG Maker strikes again! Hyacinthus is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel JRPG ripoffs spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction, at least I assume that's what it is, it's cringey, and it's terribly translated. In this case the developer didn't even see any interest in using RPG Maker to make an RPG, because this is more of a visual novel with a godawful painting "minigame", if you can get that far into it. This is really badly made and crashes after a few minutes on most runs, or if you alt and tab. It's fundamentally broken and apparently abandoned so it won't be fixed. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. Cute game with an interesting storyline. The game mechanics could be more intuitive, but overall I would recommend playing this game.

Игра 'Hyacinthus' очаровала меня своей неторопливой атмосферой и красивым визуальным стилем, напоминающим живопись маслом. Изучение загадочного мира, полного тайн и поэтических образов, увлекает с первых минут. Головоломки несложные, но органично вплетены в повествование и подталкивают к внимательному исследованию окружения. Музыкальное сопровождение идеально дополняет атмосферу, создавая ощущение спокойствия и меланхолии. Сама история, хотя и подается фрагментарно, оставляет глубокое впечатление. Она заставляет задуматься о хрупкости воспоминаний, потере и надежде. Несмотря на то, что игра довольно короткая, она остается в памяти надолго. Это скорее медитативный опыт, чем активное приключение. 'Hyacinthus' - прекрасный выбор для тех, кто ищет что-то необычное и атмосферное, способное подарить моменты умиротворения и созерцания. Рекомендую играть в наушниках и в тихой обстановке, чтобы полностью погрузиться в этот загадочный мир.
