About I Am Gooey

In a certain tower, on a certain coast, the source of the world’s sun is born every day in an endless cycle. Every night, the source of the world’s sun dies. This source is “Gooey” a small fire slime that gains radiance as it gathers the flame coins on its journey up the Tower. Become “Gooey”, ascend the Tower, and become the sun, so the world’s daily cycle can continue!
Find and gather as many flame coins as you ascend the tower! The more coins you gather, the more radiant a sun you become! Watch your step as you ascend, though, otherwise you’ll be set back to try again.

Does not have a save system or warning that progress is not saved, so it reset me when I had to quit... even though it saved how many collectibles I had collected.2 found this helpful
I Am Gooey is a free to play 2D retro pixel top down puzzle game where you guide a blob through a dungeon tileset, solving puzzles until you reach the end of the game. Gameplay consists of solving pathing puzzles where you must draw a line without crossing it, while touching every objective tile. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. The game only supports a 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio, meaning either the game was developed on an old 4:3 CRT monitor from 1996 they found in a dumpster, or the game was designed for people using 4:3 CRT monitors from 1996, or both. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The game is completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. This is certainly a gesture that shows dedication to the gaming industry. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum…1 found this helpful
I started a few times due to overestimating the ability to alternate between tabs, but this also gave me the time and space to understand what I was actually doing rather than blowing past the introductory levels whose designs led to automatic solutions. The last few levels required some consideration, although areas that provide a challenge are mostly boiled down to the correct point of entry. I was unsure of the purpose of the fire emblems and I still am; far too many of them seemed too easy to acquire, where it almost feels as though they were at one point meant to add an extra layer for the puzzle, only able to be acquired once I start the red path. The game is a Mind mazer in a slant-sokoban style, where exiting brazier tiles forward or from the sides determines success along with avoiding contact on the snake tail of previous lights. The simplicity of the concept seems to produce a balancing act for the design; levels are in a binary state for whether or not they require any consideration. A single feature would likely alleviate this issue and open more space for design, such as a brazier that teleports you to its twin once you step off, or a set of braziers that use a diff…
