About I Wanna Build a Robot
Grab your gamepad and get ready for the action !
A little boy is stuck at home waiting for his mom. Suddenly, a giant robot body pops into his living room and ask him to get some parts so they can play together.
I Wanna Build A Robot is a sci-fi retro action game in the style of 1990's pixel art and lo-fi music. Single-player only for the moment, it is action-packed and filled with secrets !
With the help of two weapons : a stick to strike with and a stone to throw, defeat countless enemies in many levels and triumph over the bosses.
Be aware that it is a short experience, created in a month by two programmers.

I Wanna Build a Robot is a short 30-minute Zelda-like adventure with an intriguing creepy premise about rebuilding a mysterious robot, and players appreciate the genuine effort from its small developer team. However, the game suffers from slow movement speed with no run option, awkward controls that feel unresponsive in combat, and unbalanced weapons like an overpowered stone that trivializes enemy threats, making the experience feel clunky despite its decent graphics and atmosphere.
(Got this for free via the developer's submission to OMEGA Trade - G. Thanks!)
Do I wanna build a snowman? No...I Wanna Build a Robot!
I Wanna Build a Robot is a short (30 minute long) game involving a child who's home alone while waiting for his mother to come home. All of a sudden, a robot torso appears in his living room and promises that if he's rebuilt, then he'll play with you...but first, he must be assembled with the parts in your basement (kinda' see where this is going, but...ADVENTURE!!!). And so it begins, your quest to rebuild the mysterious robot and to fight against mean robots and bat monsters in your basement. I Wanna Build a Robot has a creepy air to it when it comes to the story, but the gameplay is reminiscent of 2D Zelda titles...yeah, those good ones. You get a simple weapon...a stick and fight off a small array of enemies...blue robots that tire after losing sight of you, green robots that charge through walls, red durable robots that hunt relentlessly until you're dead while shooting at you, sentry turrets, and bat monsters. For a 30 minute game, it's a decent array with three levels, a hub (
or is it 3[/spoiler…3 found this helpful
While the game is difficult, it doesn't help that it feels like you're having to fight with the controls to combat your in-game foes. I feel like a dash or dodge mechanic as well as adjustments to the regular attack speed/range/area or something would need to be done before the controls felt like a tool to use rather than a an obstacle to overcome.2 found this helpful
A decent and very simple 2D Zelda-like game. Use your Stick and throwing rock (Stone) to go through 3 main levels and a boss stage. My biggest gripe by far is the movement speed. You move so horrendously slow and there is no run button. There are also some typos. It's rather easy, even more so once you get the OP Stone weapon as it's so broken in the player's favor. It will knock back any enemy a fair distance, pretty much nullifying any threats that point on. Graphics are serviceable and the music is decent, if a bit repetitive. Takes around 30-50 minutes to complete, depending how hard you try to find secrets. That ending though, woah.2 found this helpful
I Wanna Build A Robot is a 2D top down/JRPG style shooter/brawler where you guide a young boy to find parts of a robot that mysteriously appeared in his house. I've been playing a lot of completely terrible "games" lately, asset flips, template flips and game construction kit junk, so it's refreshing to see developers use Unity in a genuine attempt to make a complete video game from end to end. Some kudos to the developers for being slightly original and sincere. Unfortunately this does need to be judged as a game on merits of quality and value to gamers. 2D top down brawlers are done to death, almost as bad as retro pixel platformers. Gameplay is stale as soon as you start. You get a stick to fight with but the controls are so badly done, you can only manage to pull off an attack every 10-15 seconds. Some basic testing would have helped here. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standard…2 found this helpful
For a game made by 2 guys in a month it's pretty alright
