I liked the game, I completed it in an hour. It is not easy, but interesting and offers a variety of gameplay with challenges. It's better to play on a gamepad!7 found this helpful
Great music, nice minimalistic pixel art. But, the platforming is a bit too tough for me. It seems to me that the game is playing a bit faster than the trailers, and I suppose that's part of it. The constant energy drain isn't the worst thing in the world, but it certainly doesn't help the appealing factor to it. And, really.. Watching the trailer a bit more, and watching some other folks play this on YouTube - the weird speediness I had certainly seems like a bug of some sort. I think normally I might give this a "no" recommendation because the game I'm trying to play versus the game I've been shown simply don't match up. But, the music is catchy and I liked it.2 found this helpful
I love pixel styled platformers with minimalistic graphics. The gameplay is kinda easy but you need to concentrate to complete all those levels. And that black-and-white + red vibe is so atmospheric. Good game for evening.2 found this helpful
To the Basement is a thoughtfully crafted indie adventure developed and published by HugePixel that combines classic side-scrolling platforming with exploration, light combat, and a mystery-driven narrative centered on robots and rebellion. From the outset, the game establishes a quiet but intriguing premise: you awaken as a robot in an underground facility with no memory of how you arrived there, only to discover that the rest of the robotic inhabitants have turned hostile and humans are nowhere to be found. This immediate sense of dislocation and unanswered questions sets the tone for an experience that prioritizes curiosity and gradual discovery over spectacle. The world of To the Basement is presented through a retro-inspired pixel art style that feels both nostalgic and purposeful. Rather than overwhelming the screen with visual noise, the game uses clean, readable environments that emphasize atmosphere and navigation. Corridors, mechanical rooms, and hidden chambers feel cohesive and grounded within the underground setting, giving the impression of a once-functional space now overtaken by malfunction and unrest. The restrained visual design allows players to focus on movemen…1 found this helpful
Awakening as an amnesiac robot in a mysterious underground sanctuary, I was instantly captivated by "To the Basement". The striking monochrome pixel art, challenging puzzles, and compelling narrative kept me eagerly exploring this atmospheric, cerebral adventure. A truly unique experience.
The game reminds me of the movie Terminator on minimum!) Rise of the machines so to speak. The graphics are extremely simple, as are the controls. A regular 2D platformer.
