Interesting concept but everything feels so tedious... Navigating through the menu is the first real puzzle and what will probably make you quit instantly. You can't have a menu like that and shouldn't have to read a manual in order to try to understand it, it needs a rework. I still solved a few levels (8 or 9). While I think the concept is interesting, this is clearly not for everyone. If you're not used to Rubik's Cube type of puzzles, you'll just end up being quickly stuck at the end of the puzzles without being able to grasp the logic behind them. This is exactly the same feeling you get after completing 1-2 faces of a Rubik's Cube; if you never learned how to properly solve them, it's just impossible. The tutorial only explains what you have to do, it doesn't help you understand the more serious puzzles you have after and that's really discouraging. Unfortunately I can't recommend Icosi-do but there's a demo if you're interested in this type of puzzle games.

4/10 A puzzle where you swap colored edges of a polyhedron to get each vertex connect 4 colors. Good: - the core mechanic is interesting - there is a coop multiplayer mode So-so: - there is an option to flip Y in WASD/arrow rotations, but by default it should be reverse (the current default setting has Y like in airplane simulators and is uncomfortable) - no way to zoom in/out. I'd expect the mouse wheel to do that - while solving the puzzle, there are full-screen interruptions saying how many moves are left until the solution is reached. Instead, these should be just shown in the corner all the time - Alt+Enter works but it would be good to have window mode in the options as well - the gfx of the edges with glow are generally pleasant. But the bg is just solid color fill and looks boring and low-budget. Instead there should be some skybox or fog or something Bad: - onboarding is confusing an should be re-worked entirely. It shows just a few words at a time, using up to 8 colored blocks to create letters. I didn't even notice that the bricks actually make words and clicked through half of them in confusion. i truly wish that the menus and ui were reworked into something much more friendly to use, because icosi-do's puzzles are worth the hassle of learning how to navigate through them. they're really that good! if you like solving sudokus and rubik cubes, then this will most likely be the ideal fusion of the two.

This is an amazing puzzle game, a labor of love and a masterpiece. You should buy it.

I received a free copy of icosi-do for the purpose of reviewing the game. The concept of icosi-do is interesting at best, but the game unfortunately both lacks tons of quality of life features and... being fun. Pretty much all reviews of the game already summarize my experiences, but I might as well post one too since I recieved a copy. Starting with the menu or simply the navigating in the game is a challenge in itself. The game comes with a manual that has a 550 words long section explaining the keybindings for the menu, and even when you've fully understood the menu it's tedious to navigate, and bloated with lots of instructions on how to use them (which are cropped away from the Steam screenshots). The menu consists of one word or button at a time built up by the same lines used in-game, which made the text very hard to read. There is also an animation for each word change, so reading the in-game tutorial or trying to find a setting in the options menu takes quite some time.
