FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE

For the most part i felt bad for Sae and i thought Yae betrayed her by leaving her behind but i realized in that case betrayal wasn't about leaving Sae behind. In that case the betrayal was Sae refusing to move forward with Yae. Yae was afraid but she still choosed to leave because it was the plan and they promised each other, Sae let fear consume her and in doing so she betrayed Yae just as much as Yae seemed to betray her. Sometimes, abandonment can happen when someone stays behind and refuses to take the next step with you. Neither sister was simply a victim or a traitor. Fear made them choose differently and that is what makes their story so tragic to me.

I really couldn't get into this game at first, but the more I played it, the more I enjoyed this game! It's very unique!

Rarely leave reviews but having always said older games are more scary, similar to old horror movies, this remake is worth it. I had the demo of this game on PS2 and could never get through it but now enjoying a game I never thought I would ever get around to playing.

7.5/10 The atmosphere and aesthetics of the game are top tier, I appreciate the game being scary at times which a lot of horror games fail at these days, really feels like an asian horror movie at times. They managed get creative with female ghost designs and making them the scariest, while male ghosts look like generic NPC designs. I didn't appreciate the repeat puzzles, there is like 2 types of puzzles in the game and they repeat them twice, in general there weren't a lot of puzzles which was a bummer. The combat is fun at first but can get rather annoying, the dodge sucks and have to wait a bit for a reload and then ghost disappears the last second you take the picture and then your cam is out of focus so you don't do a lot of damage. The combat was fine and I like that it was something different for once but wasn't great either, just something different. The ritual/religious aspect of the story didn't get me hooked for some reason, so at one point i stopped reading the notes tbh. I only cared about escaping the village and saving my sister not the ritual part. The game is not optimized well at all. I reccommend playing only if you are a huge horror fan and have a dece…
