✦ AI summary
Legends of Monsters is a free arcade pixel shooter with a charming premise that some players enjoy for its simplicity and accessibility as a casual take on roguelike-style gameplay. However, the game suffers from significant technical issues including bugs that cause players to lose weapons mid-playthrough, broken achievement tracking, and missing game modes, which frustrate the experience and make it feel unfinished despite its adorable aesthetic.

Legends of Monsters is an adorable arcade pixel shooter in which you're trying to rescue your sister from a evil horde consisting of zombies, ghosts, and even ninja, these enemies are spread throughout five different levels, however once you complete the game a new mode called Random is unlocked in which all enemies can be seen in one level. Unfortunately there's far more negative than positive when it comes to this game. After reloading the game in the campaign mode, I lost access to my secondary weapon slot and no matter what I do, I'm unable to reobtain it, making the levels much more annoying to complete. Another issue I've had is that I'm unable to find this "Arcade" mode the achievements mention. Either it doesn't exist or the Kill X achievements are broken. In Random mode, when you die after buying a weapon, that weapon is impossible to get again, forcing you to go back in to the menu and replay Random mode. Another issue that annoys me is that the game claims there to be 11 weapons, however after completing campaign mode and unlocking all purchasable weapons, I've gotten nine. Overall, it's a disaster of a game filled with some of the bugs I've mentioned, but there are m…2 found this helpful
"In Game Adventure: Legend of Monsters" is an extremely poor quality 2D retro pixel top down shooter, you know, so you can pretend your 5090RTX gaming rig is a Nintendo Entertainment System. Except no NES game was ever this bad. Oh and this was released in 2017 alongside games like Hellblade: Sensua's Sacrifice and Divinity Original Sin 2. So there's really no excuses. What do you do in the game? It's a crappy 2D retro pixel top down shooter. You will do 2D retro pixel top down shooting. Or not. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. The developer chose not to do the job of a real game developer and create meaningful bespoke levels, narrative based gameplay progression and so on. Instead, they decided that "Procgen IS content…1 found this helpful
need to play a little more but so far its pretty fun and simple
A chaotic, buggy mess and I'm all for it!
A free take on the Binding of Isaac formula. It's short and easy enough. If you aren't sure if you would like that style of game, you can do worse than dipping your toes in with this free title.
