It's got just enough immersion to make it fun to play as a medieval tavern keeper. However, not so much that it becomes tedious or boring. You unlock new ingredients, recipes, and upgrades to your tavern at a brisk pace too. It's not super realistic though and don't expect the best physics. However, there's just enough there IMO. It can get quite hectic having to manage the tavern by yourself as you'll be prepping, cooking, serving, getting money, cleaning, and also getting rid of unruly customers. You can eventually hire help. You can hire a bard to keep clients entertained or you can play the mandolin yourself. I did find one thing annoying though about this game and I hope it's only because of Early Access and it's something the dev plans to change soon: your customer (at least early on) will only want a drink or a soup. You can give them whatever drink or soup you make. The difference will be in what amount they will pay you. Which just doesn't make sense ... customers should request a specific drink or food. Fabulous game! Very fun and addicting. Highly recommended! Can't wait to see how they develop this. Just a few minor complaints. This is an early access review so take it with a grain of salt. 1.) I think the in-game tutorial could be a bit better. There are a lot of things that are not obvious. 2.) The tutorial books flying away when you set them down is kind of annoying and makes it difficult to look back at instructions should you need to 3.) Using items is sometimes flakey. For example, using the broom to sweep the floor. It seems like the broom gets stuck somehow and so sweeping is a bit of a pain. Grabbing items can on occasionally also be flakey. I play on an Index, FWIW. 4.) Game could benefit from a lot more audio cues. There's no reason for people to sit silently at a table. Calls of "Bring me food!" or "Bring me drink!" would add a lot of realism. Audio arguments before fights break out would also be a great effect. General chatter when the tavern is full to make it seem like the people are real and actually having conversations would also add realism. Stuff like that could be greatly improved. This is much more cozy than I thought, in a good way. It's not too stressful, but keeps you busy. I am not really into cooking in any game, but it is done nice and simple here, so it's pretty enjoyable. Probably the only game I've ever enjoyed cooking in actually. I got so into serving the customers and keeping things running that I forgot to follow the tutorial. I'm now fermenting Ale and hired my first staff. The game is definitely worth it's price, and I hope they keep updating it. Update: It's a very, very fun game, especially for the price. I am not even finished but close to it, I just need to unlock a couple more things. I have taken my time and it's been really enjoyable. I'm sad to almost be done. Once you get into the loop of it all, it really feels like you have your own little inn and tavern. I love giving the rooms keys out and decorating the rooms, so glad the cleaner will also clean the rooms. Chopping the ingredients is oddly satisfying, as is brewing different drinks and putting them up to ferment. Grinding the grain is kinda cool too, except I spill that sh!t all the time and it pisses me off :) I hope this game gets the love it deserves on Steam.

A deep Innkeeper simulator with tons of content and flawless comfortable controls, well worth the money in its current state and I look forward to the 1.0 release.

Can't recommend in this state. This is more of a neutral review due to a few reasons. Physics & Colliders: While cool and immersive in theory, there's a reason most VR games stay away from over the top physical colliders. We don't have control over the virtual avatar as much as we have with our physical bodies, leading us to frequently bump into things like a bumbling fool, when we otherwise wouldn't IRL. For instance, being able to activate the tap on the keg by pushing on it with a cup is cool, but NPCs slapping food out of my hands as I'm serving them (when they raise their hands every 2 seconds) is unbelievably annoying. Collision between the player and tables and chairs is also problematic as I frequently end up standing on the table when reaching over to serve food or clean tables. Bugs: The decoration mechanic is interesting, but when I went to add tablecloths to the tables, after I hammered them down (which makes no sense btw) they phased through the table, like the texture/mesh had some issues Quality of Life: I find that the items and tools teleporting back to their designated position is helpful in some ways, but mostly a bother. The tutorial is not very good and you can definitely tell some of the stuff is made by AI, especially the images in the book. But honestly, it’s still pretty fun overall, and his YouTube videos are actually really funny to watch if you ever need help or get stuck. The devs did a good job with the game on some parts, but it's probably not worth $17. Maybe get it if it ever goes on sale, or if they lower the price (even though they said they wouldn't, so this is probably the lowest it’s going to get). Also, the sandbox mode doesn't really have that much content in it right now. If they drop some big updates I'll definitely check it out again, but for now, it's just something I'll play every once in a while. 6/10 (I will change review as game progresses it obviously is not the best game because it is in early access cant wait for the new updates)
