Insomnia: Chapter One

[h1]INSOMNIA: CHAPTER ONE[/h1] I'm quite torn between giving this game a thumbs up or down. The game could be cheaper for the hour long "gameplay" you have in this "demo"... heck, this truly feels like a paid demo. Anothing thing I gotta point out is the HUGE inspiration and maybe even "copycat" of the game "STILL WAKES THE DEEP", which has almost the same beginning then sh!t hits the fan once you get tasked to do something isolated. The atmosphere is cool and there is some creepyness to be had in this game and that it does give you SLIGHTLY, "THE THING" movie vibes. I did not experienced any technical issues no bugs. The game ran fine on my main rig. Also, the ultrawide resolution is well supported too. The voice acting is quite amateurish... wouldn't be surprised if it's A.I. and good thing the subtitles works since they voices overlaps other characters at times. Biggest negative is the game length. This can clearly be completed under an hour and surely faster if you don't mess around or go AFK. Insomnia: Chapter One embraces a familiar horror concept and gives it an effective setting: a lonely Arctic research station cut off from civilization. Taking place in 2012, the story follows Ethan Miller, a young technician assigned to investigate why the Persei station has gone silent. From the moment he arrives, it becomes clear that something is terribly wrong. The station's empty halls, malfunctioning systems, and lingering signs of a sudden disappearance immediately establish an uneasy atmosphere. Developed by Melon Polygons and published by MonkeyFactory Media, the game presents itself as the beginning of an episodic horror saga, and much of its appeal comes from the promise of uncovering a larger mystery over time. Rather than relying on excessive jump scares, the game focuses on psychological tension. The developers make good use of environmental storytelling, allowing players to piece together events through exploration and observation. Every corridor feels deliberately designed to reinforce isolation, with the Arctic backdrop adding another layer of discomfort. I loved this game. The ambiance, the creepy AF music, the FEELING of being stalked and yet completely alone, all mixed into a great little game. The best part for me, however, was the wonderful note at the end of the credits. All I will say is to the creator: keep creating and holding your friends close. I am buying copies for the gamers in my life and I will be waiting for Chapter 2.

This game was completely unfocused and unneedingly trash. the horror was just fine but the gameplay was utter trash.
