Take the mystery dungeon formula, make it a mixture of action and strategy, add in an intelligent, adaptable partner, remove all the annoying parts (e.g. hunger, equipment investment, unidentified items) and you have Absented Age. The gameplay loop is simply excellent; it's the main reason you'd be here. It has a lot more depth than you might think. Throughout the various dungeons, you learn more about the game's unusual story while the various gimmicks always keep you on your toes. Especially if you're after the Arc Monsters and the post-game secret boss. They are far more challenging than anything else you'd face. Most enemies (including bosses) have a low chance to drop a gem which allows you to use one of their abilities and/or gives passive bonus(es.) I love this kind of stuff. Just wish the storage system had more slots, 120 is nowhere near enough if you're a collector. Arcade Mode lets you carry over stats/equipment from Story Mode and play through special dungeons where you start with an empty backpack. Equipment durability is replaced by a floor time limit. When a run is over, you'll get points for the skill tree and a crystal usable by the two guest characters. …4 found this helpful
Extremely good game. Story: Karen who died is trapped between life and death in short. While she is dead, she is still somewhat alive, existing as a ghost. With her chance of returning being to gather her Heart Fragments. As more is gathered, more memories return, which also causes her to confront who she was and is. The memories are how the falling out of the band club she was in, ended up leading her to make some invaluable friends. They are like a group of misfits, they don't really fit in well with others, but shine when together. As it goes along, you find out just how much of an abnormality Karen is, and how the church wishes to seal her away as a weapon to be used. Despite this, she does gain allies from two members. Who helps her confront her stolen life, and tackle the near hopeless situation. The story is very emotionally heavy, I think the only other time I have been this invested was Noel the Mortal Fate. System: Think Mystery Dungeon real time/semi-turn based. The base movement is real time, with battle engagement going semi-turn based. With a variety of equipment that gets stronger permanently, and the small boosts from the skill tree. The game is an immersive …2 found this helpful
This is a really fun action roguelike game. I wouldn't call it perfect but for what it is, I'd call it under rated. Mechanically the game is a mix of action and turn based with a ton of skills. Coupled with the massive amount of weapons, armors, and items allows a for a pretty large amount of customization. There were a few moments and monsters that tripped me up a little bit, I had some issues with the slimes in the first dungeon, I think it was the slimes, but adapt and overcome or run. The graphics are pretty good and the artwork is top notch. The music is what really sets it apart for me. I wish there was more to the soundtrack because what is there, is incredible. This is, low key, one of the best soundtracks I've heard in a long, long time. The story is interesting, better then a 15 dollar story should be, if I'm being honest. The pacing isn't to bad but there is a ton of dungeon diving between story beats. Of course, this is a dungeon diver so you should be ok with that. I think I hit all the checks, I highly recommend the game.1 found this helpful
Honestly the presentation of the game is top notch! The combat flow is tremendously fun, addicting, and extremely engaging. There's so much strategies and synergies with different items that when you get out of a dangerous situations, it makes it incredibly satisfying to get through until the very end. Whenever I play this game, I always sink many, many hours into this game because of its gorgous presentations, sound design, dynamic soundtrack, and much more. And the story overall was really engaging and I can't wait to finish the sequel for more! Really one of the kind game if you love playing Mystery Dungeons (like me with Pokemon's!).1 found this helpful
This games go from ok fine too.. well trash, really even silksong I play a lot before feeling what this game make me feel too soon. So well here I go. Game is weird in the fight mechanic with combat feeling more RNG than should be I stop in the bird boss after failing twice and thinking who in the hell tought that a boss that can move far from you and spawn minions is a good design. NOw game save you between floors and if you lose twice well just restart. Seems to me game was made for roguelite but there is no insentive to that.. really game skill tree seems obsolete going to what the hell is team thinking so between restart from floor 5 to going to grind all again.. well win try and leave game forget that even buy it. SO at end to me feel that game was getting too short and develper decide midway go to the BS mechanics for the sake of get longer, without think if players enjoy it. At end I play in beginner for get the story hoping game were easy and not grinding but fail cause is grindy with a lot of equipment that just not drop and feeling a waste of time.
