Combat and Story, Why Choose When You Can Enjoy Both

14 years in development and more than 1 year for revision, award-winning indie developer KEIZO gave his all into this work. The plot keeps twisting as characters growing in an ever expanding world; Classic themes like time travel and tons of spoilers are all custom-made with the developer's own style. In ASTLIBRA, Story elements are often made into game mechanics, for example, your soul-mate Karon is not just a sidekick to talk with.

Fruitful Endgame with Even More Challenges

With 6 difficulty options, all kinds of players can enjoy the combat system at their own pace, but no one can finish all those contents casually - even after you "beat" the game, the Postscript after Final Chapter will provide extra story, new adventure and fresh system, tapping the potential of skills, equipment, as well as your imagination.

Amazing Story and good gameplay!

Unironically one of the best JRPGS out there. If you can get past the odd presentation and the story being harder to follow the further you progress due to the whole time traveling stuff, This is an amazing game. Definitely provides you with the vibe of starting off with nothing but a stick and then at the end becoming a powerful god killer. aside from slight nitpicks, fantastic JRPG, would heavily recommend :3

Very fun gameplay with tons of progression. Astlibra can honestly be hard to put down due to its great loop of unlocks. The game is portioned out over chapters and these while formulaic are still enjoyable romp through new locations earning new weapons & gear which leads to permanent unlocks for your character, quite enjoyable. Though this is where I massively disagree with a number of reviews. I find the writing absolutely childish. Cringe even, though I don’t really wanna say it.

The experience is just stunning(no spoiler) I haven’t been engaged in a game‘s story for a long time now but this game just got me sunk into it. The story contains many foreshadowing and plot twist that it all makes sense, and everything comes around, I can’t say much without spoilers, you have to experience yourself. For the game mechanics, I think it’s alright. The battle system is really cool. You can go with many types of build suggest magic, and just normal attack. And it’s really fun to switch styles along the progression. However, it does require a little bit farming at around chapter 6, I played on maximum difficulty, the curve from chapter 0 to chapter 1 is really huge, the first boss is very hard, and the small minion enemy in chapter 2 is very hard also, but onward it’s kind of easy until I chapter 6, where you have to farm a little bit, it’s like around 45min, then you are basically set for the whole game, I think it’s reasonable and fine. The only thing I wanna somehow complain about is the puzzle and the treasures, they are either confusing or hides in obscure places, which is really hard if you don’t search online, but you will feel super rewarding if you solve y…

So, the story is weird and the dialogue is pretty cringe. Not sure if it's a translation thing or not. Otherwise, the gameplay is solid and the growth system is addictive. It has a bit of grindiness if you're a completionist with all the armors and weapons you can acquire. A very good experience so far!
