Successfully capturing the straightforward, repetitive & frustrating elements that made the original an addictive affair. Its main selling point is an upgrade system that scales the challenge with noticeable changes in alien capability & behaviour. Distinct audiovisuals generate an effective noiresque & mecha style aesthetic. It now lacks less in features & modes, after the last update (1.02). Though it still offers a tough challenge that scales less steeply than before, at least on mid difficulty. The use of AI generated art, is less of an issue given this was developed by a small team. Captures the nostalgia of the original & has all the ingredients that make for a successful reimagining. The last update elevates this title to a [b]WORTHWHILE[/b] purchase. I hate Roguelike/Roguelite games because in general is just a grind. Although Invaders Evolutions falls in that hateful category I can live with that. At first, I was very reluctant to purchase Invaders Evolutions. When I saw this game in the Steam store, I got very exited about it. Then I saw the dreaded word “Roguelite”. So, I even expressed my disappointment in the Steam Discussions. And very soon I got a reply from the developer in this regard. Long story short, because of my nostalgic connection with Space Invaders, I decided to buy Invaders Evolutions. And do I regret it? No, I do not. First let me say the developer is pleasant and responsive. He does not get on his high horse and takes criticism along with the praise. A quick thought on Invaders Evolutions. It’s a challenging and fun roguelite game. It’s not easy but it’s not frustratingly so. There is some grind but that’s to be expected. It is “Space Invaders” after all. I'll probably never reach level 100 but will give it a fair go. There is a story that I have not explored enough because of my play-time. Maybe I’m biased because of the nostalgia, but I recommend Invaders Evolutions. Have fun.3 found this helpful
Super fun game - starts off a bit like traditional space invaders, then takes a big left turn as the alien upgrades kick in. Was getting my butt kicked a little until I read the how-to-play guide on the community - now I understand it's also a resource/strategy game as well - makes a BIG difference!.. Fun and addictive , it kills your time easily .. also thanks dev for adding Arabic language in the game.
Invaders Evolutions has come a long way since the pre-release copy given to my group. Invaders Evolutions is essentially Space Invaders with upgrades. There are 3 levels of difficulty, and now Invaders Evolutions is controller friendly. Better than Space Invaders IMO. Devs that listen to feedback. I'm having a lot of fun with this game remembering my misspent youth playing it rather than attending uni classes! I'm still bad at it! This version is great. Looks good on my Steamdeck (although I have not advanced many levels... not the fault of the game!!) Cool add to my library.
