Janosik 2: Prologue

Janosik 2: Prologue is a short retro-inspired action platformer that works both as an introduction to Janosik 2 and as a self-contained miniature adventure. Developed by Onix Games and published by Retrovibe, it puts Janka in the leading role and uses her journey to introduce the movement, exploration, upgrades, and playful fantasy atmosphere that define the larger game. Its free-to-play format and relatively compact structure make it particularly approachable, but there is enough actual progression here that it feels more substantial than a basic promotional demo. The story begins with Janka preparing for a date with Janosik before Baron de Blonde, acting on behalf of Countess Bathory, interrupts her plans. The premise is intentionally lighthearted and gives the adventure a fairy-tale quality that fits its colorful pixel-art presentation. Storytelling remains secondary to gameplay, yet having Janka as the protagonist gives the prologue its own identity. The exaggerated characters and simple conflict establish the tone quickly without slowing the player down with lengthy exposition. Good free game, which acts as a prologue to Janosik 2. Play this and the first Janosik (also free), and then buy the second game if you like them.

Map now features the shopkeepers, and with upgrades shows gold. More puzzling and platforming challenge than the first one.

It's decent, but the dark areas are a huge pain, which almost make me want to thumb the game down. Thankfully, those areas are short. Movement felt a little less fluid than Janosik and it was annoying to not have an attack for most of the game. Just over 3 hours to 100%.

Wow, what a fun little platformer. I liked it even more than the first Janosik and the fact that it's free makes it a no-brainer for a platformer/metroidvania fan
