Objectively this is not very good. It's super easy, it has glitchy aspects, the graphics are meh, the music is repetitive. But subjectively, I enjoyed it a lot. It's a great palette-cleanser to play when you've accidentally played three tough turn-based tactics games in a row. It reminds me of Flash-era metroidvania, like Robot Wants Kitty - it's not *about* being challenging, it's just having fun, and the myriad secrets and completely unnecessary upgrades make it fun. You don't even need a lot of the "key" powerups - the "stick an axe in the wall to form a platform" makes it so with a little skill you can get anywhere it looks like you're only supposed to get to with the later wall-climb or wind-gust-catch powerups. The gold is completely excessive, I bought all the powerups and still had over 10000 spare gold at the end (and many of the powerups I bought *after* defeating the final boss, so they weren't necessary either). If you have all the health boosts you can pretty much just tank through all the boss fights without even dodging anything. All of this is to say, it's a very relaxing casual play, and it's fun to have one of those occasionally. Possible warning for Linux use…

I love how this game respects my time, hubworld & levels are full of shortcuts as you get further into them, and levels usually only have "you'll need a new ability for this" 1 level before you get the ability required, maps show all secret areas so once you get the map it's easy, and while the boss fights can be a little BS, you are constantly given more than enough potions and hearts to just tank them if you want.

Lots of fun and classic platformer style gameplay. I cleared everything 100% in about 17 hours taking it casually. There are areas that one character or another is better, but I also appreciate that I can clear many of those without having to hyper optimize my usage of those characters. You can fudge it with an alternate. I will say don't spend overly long trying to get into areas you aren't able to get into, you'll get skills along the way that will open them with ease. I did try to get into areas I shouldn't because I find that fun. But it will definitely be easier if you just wait on the skill which will come quickly enough. Game played really well, never had any major issues. I did get a couple times where frame rates began to chug a little unusually. One of the levels near the top of the map was pretty consistent for the issue, but it never created any problems with completing things and didn't persist in other areas of the levels. It was fun and you can see improvements over the original game. The character swaps were a little tricky to get used to, but that's a skill issue. Good retro-inspired action-platformer. The game won't win any awards, but is fun to relax between other games, or when listening to a podcast. Worth the price for the length it has.

Very nice and fun platform game. It's split into levels connected by a central hub (your village). A few levels need abilities that you unlock later to fully complete, so it may have some "metroidvania" elements but it's not a full-fledged metroidvania. It has combat and bosses (the difficulty isn't too high, IMHO). Highly recommended!
