Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl

5/10. This game catches the essence of 8 bit beat em ups like River City Ransom on the NES. However, this game is too stiff. I haven't played RCR for many years, but I don't remember having this kind of problem. You need to wait for an animation to complete in order to do something else. Want to switch from Bob to Jay? Wait until you finish that punch in order to switch. You have to be completely still to switch characters. This game can is best be played using a controller. Okay. No problem. i would suggest to go to the Settings and change the controls mostly using the D-Pad for those that prefer that than using the Left Stick. Enemies will always be in front and behind you, but that is to be suspected from old school beat em ups. Golden Axe is known for that. I made it up to the third level where at some point, you're in a cart dodging obstacles. Switched between characters when possible during that section. There are check points and it gets faster after each one. Overall, get the demo first before buying this game. As it is pretty hard for single player. i don't know about two players.

A quality beat 'em up that really captures the 8 bit era in everything from the visuals and level design to the music and sound effects. The only thing that let it down was the hit detection and some of the enemy patterns. This was a bit disappointing when comparing it to the likes of Double Dragon 2 on the NES, but apart from that I'd definitely recommend it.

This game is hard! And that's exactly what I expect from a game trying to bring back that NES beat'em up feel. The mechanic where a character recharges his energy while you play with the other is very smart. I wish old NES games had something like that.

Game probably isnt buns but couldnt play remote play because we kept being the same character, gng didnt like the experience
