JellieShift

JellieShift is a really charming little puzzle platformer that I found easy to enjoy because it has a simple idea but does something useful with it. I play as Jellie, a little jelly blob trapped in a strange underwater area, and I have to work my way through the levels by using different coloured crystals and shooting jelly at parts of the environment. The basic platforming is quite relaxed, but the way I can change the properties of objects gives the game a reason to think about what I am doing instead of just running from one side of a level to the other. The colour abilities are easily the best part for me. There are four different crystals that give me different powers, and I can switch between three states while only having two swappable crystal slots. That means I have to make some decisions about which abilities I want available when I reach a new puzzle. I liked this because the game does not just hand me every ability at once and expect me to use them all. I actually have to think about what combination will help me get through the next section.
