The lockpicking minigame is trash and should have been scrapped from the game altogether, there's very little enemy variety for how frequent combat is, the QTEs are clearly meant for a touch screen and here they're often badly responsive to controls - this issue alone put me on the verge of leaving a negative review more than once However, i'd be lying if i said i didn't enjoy getting through this on some level. The game essentially works as an enhanced gamebook, with minigames and proper turn-based combat, yes, but also with more fleshed out mechanics for trade, stats and equipment. Combat aside it plays out as a sort of text adventure-pen and paper RPG hybrid and although not perfect there's something about it i enjoyed I'd recommend it to a Lone Wolf veteran who wants a new adventure with a bit of a twist, however if you're new to the franchise you should probably stick to the gamebooks, i don't think this should be your first exposure to it

The combat is really unfun, and the choose your own adventure stuff is actually pretty cool, but having a voiced narrator would have really made this more enjoyable. Not a bad idea, just not so great execution overall.

I remember playing this game, or a demo of this game, on my old Ipod way back when I was a kid. Summer sale meant that I found this game I forgot!! I have been blown away by it's simplicity and compelling story and how much it consumed my life so quickly!! I didn't even know it was a book series, now I have much more to delve into while I replay this!! Please give it a try!

5 minutes in and all I've done is read wall after wall of text. After looking online, this game is full of that. No thanks. Reading is what people did before they invented fun.

[b]Review[/b] So, apparently Joe Dever is a writer and he worked on this mobile game based on his books? The character creation is pretty neat, there are some fairly diverse choices here like "talk to animals" or "something very different i already forgot". The game itself starts out as a choose your own adventure book. Do you use the green bar to talk to animals, the red bar to jump over obstacle or the blue bar to find your own way. It's pretty neat. And then you get to combat. Oh boy. Combat is on a *timer*. You have to quickly pick an action or lose a turn. And some actions require clicking quickly, clicking at the right time or dragging the mouse in a certain direction. And while there is a decent variety of combat options, it doesn't seem like you can use those skills you picked to affect combat. It's really disappointing and when the second battle started i just quit instead.
