About JosPlays' Escape - GameJam April 2024

ScoreSpace Jam #29

This game was made for ScoreSpace Jam #29 and was created within one weekend. The theme of this game jam was ESCAPE. Which you have to in the game by collecting all 5 tools and make it to the exit.
An extra requirement was to have a highscore system, this game will save the top 3 highscores and are calculated as followed:

You start with 600 points, every tick a point is removed from your score. When you get attacked by a ghost you will lose points (so try to avoid them). Collecting the tools will increase your points. Also the ghost diamonds will increase your points. With every diamond you collect a new one will spawn, but be aware. With every diamond a new ghost will spawn and the follow range of the ghosts will increase.

Changes

The only changes made after the Jam are Steam changes. For example I have added achievements to make the game more enjoyable to play for people. And when bugs are found you can let me know in the discussions and I will try to fix it as well.

The ghosts don't actually kill you, they just take away points, and overall the game is kind of boring to be honest.

This is not a sincerely made product. It was made for a game jam, which is a problem. It was done in a very short time, but professional game development takes years of effort from teams of talented people. A "game" slapped together in a weekend by an amateur simply isn't going to have any value for gamers and that plays out clearly with this shovelware. Also, products created in game jams were never intended for gamers. They exist only to stroke the ego of amateur developers who can't get a real job in the industry. When untalented developers put their own vanity before the needs of the player, garbage like "JosPlays' Escape - GameJam April 2024" is the result. Imagine if airports ran a "plane jam" to see who which amateur enthusiast could build an airplane within a weekend with a $100 budget. Would you fly on that plane? No. It takes time and resources to do a job properly. It might seem harmless for hundreds, if not thousands of these game-jam ego projects being dumped on Steam, but it's not. They take away ma…
