Ghostie's Escape is a really fun little survival platformer that immediately reminded me of old boss fight games where every movement matters. I play as Ghostie, who is trapped inside an executioner's chamber and has to survive a series of dangerous patterns while figuring out how to escape. I liked how quickly the game establishes its rules because I am immediately focused on movement, timing and learning the room. The combat is almost entirely about dodging. Instead of giving me a traditional weapon and asking me to defeat enemies directly, the game makes me survive attacks and use the environment to my advantage. I enjoyed this because it turns the executioner's tools into parts of the puzzle. I have to learn the patterns, understand where danger is coming from and move at exactly the right moment. The movement feels responsive, which is especially important in a game like this. Precise jumps, quick movement and careful positioning can make the difference between escaping a dangerous attack and getting caught immediately.
