I thought I was embarking on a grand, epic quest to save a kingdom. Instead, I’ve spent the last three hours being bullied by sentient puddles of grape jelly and I’ve never been more entertained. Journey to Slimetopia is a vibrant, top-down adventure that feels like a love letter to the classic era of handheld RPGs, but someone turned the "chaos" dial up to eleven. I’m playing as a hero who is frankly overqualified for this amount of bouncing. weird almost point and click adventure looking for gold slimes hidden in the worlds, upgrading weapons with gold from finding and killing other slimes spawning from portals at the end of the stage, the movement and slow shooting took a min to get used to. but its not bad for free game and the friendly slime talks forever. the hidden slimes are kinda hard to find.

Journey to Slimetopia is a small first person arena shooter that has a pretty simple idea behind it. I am exploring a colourful low poly world where the slimes have suddenly gone mad, and my job is to fight through them while looking around for secrets and upgrades. I have a wand for ranged attacks and a sword for dealing with groups up close, so the combat is easy to understand almost immediately. What I like is that it does not try to make the game more complicated than it needs to be. It is mainly about exploring, finding things and surviving the next group of slimes. The wand is the weapon I use most often because it lets me deal with enemies from a safer distance, but the sword gives me another option when several slimes get too close. The sword is slower, so I have to be a bit more careful about when I use it. The combat becomes more interesting when the game starts sending waves at me through portals, because I have to keep track of what is around me rather than simply walking forward and shooting.
