Kakureza Library

The price and the quality makes me very hesitant to give this a negative review. It has good art. the vibe is just right. the sound design is great, and a few details about it is pretty subtle, like static added to certain characters when they speak. There is *great* detail to every book cover in the library, and for a second, I even thought that some of the books might be real ones. You get a glimpse into your customers personalities, into what their lives must be like, and it's great- It's just a glimpse. you don't get to learn anything too deep about anyone, just like you should. You're just a librarian, and the game shows that perfectly. However I can't bring myself to recommend this at all. It feels like nothing but wasted potential. The game feels great at making a setting, and gives you a lot of info for everything to feel more "real": there are flowers in another room. you get paid on the 20th. no eating or drinking in the library. rules, details about the place, it's all there. Yet all you do at your job, is click a card to scan it, click the books on the counter in any order, and return the card. If someone returns a book past the due date, you are not the one to spo…

It's a short experience (even if you read all the book synopsis), but enjoyable. It takes three to four runs to complete all the achievements and to also piece together the background story hidden behind a 30 day librarian clerk trial. I do wish you could skip ahead for non-search bits if you'd finished the game once already, but if you take your time or not (a play through can be done in a lunch break) it's an interesting game.

it was fun to work in a library and the game gave a good simulation. graphics are cute; those invented books look real. but the game per se is not interesting (nor sensible). the endings pop out awkwardly. i'm even not motivated to get the password for the true end.

Very laid-back game where you scan library cards and books for people, sometimes there are little events you can make a choice for. There are hundreds of books in the catalog with covers and 1-2 sentences each which are fun to look through.

This game is rather short, but I really enjoyed the experience as I went through it. It really brought out the simple things in life, the different people who go to a library and your role to ensure they get the books they want. A part of me really wanted to read the books that were presented and it was fun to see reoccurring characters and the pieces of their lives and why they chose to read certain books. I still have a few achievements and endings to get, but I've enjoyed this short experience thoroughly.

Very relaxing and fun. It's really nice to get to know the characters through the books they loan. The UI could use a bit of work, it would be nice to be able to enlarge books when people return them. Also, there is no options menu, you can't fullscreen the game in any way. In general, I recommend it, but I wish there was just more of it. Haven't gotten all the ends yet, but I don't think there will be stark differences between them as they require you to play through a big portion of the game again.
