Keyboard Maestro Voyage

Great idea to use MIDI keyboard in a rhythm game, but the whole thing just doesn't work for me. I diagnose the problem as follows. The way I use MIDI keyboard is usually to play music -- I have a melody or chord progression in my mind, and I directly play it. I don't think about what key I'm gonna play, I just play it. This game, however, requires me to look at the screen, see what note is coming, then play it on my keyboard. In my mind, I have to turn what I see on my screen into some melody, and then play it. It just doesn't flow well for me. Or from a more phenomenological perspective, MIDI keyboard for musicians is like a lively tool, or an extension of their body. They don't "gawk" at a MIDI keyboard, they just skillfully play music with it. This game requires people to "gawk" at their MIDI keyboard, so it can't possibly work. Let me use another analogy to really illustrate the problem. There are typing games where the screen shows you a word or a sentence, and you need to type the word in a given amount of time. Sounds like a fun way to kill some time. However, imagine a typing game where the screen shows you *where to type on your keyboard*, instead of what you need to ty…

I'm really impressed with this game. It's essentially KeyboardMania if you ever in that era where you use a 25 key midi keyboard (preferably with wheel) and just play some midi based music in the game. The game pretty easy to understand if you used to play IIDX or most rhythm game and the only confusing part at first is the menu navigation although once you mastered it, it's like one of the best navigation for this kind of game. The wheel support is surprising too, the game support both Rotary type and Y type wheel. Some music would have pitch bend and modulo which would really mess you up if you never use one in life (like me) luckily you can also automate it so you can focus on the key alone. The control midi keyboard support is also great, Im using a KORG nanoKEY Studio and it work straight out of box without any setup. Just set the pad to Pitch/Mod and update the settings to use Y type wheel. Then you good to go. I imagine midi keyboard with more key would work out of box too (I have to test this later with my KORG microKey) The music selection can be up to taste, I enjoyed a small variety off it but this definitely could use some workshop support or at least just custom se…

really good concept i finally have more use for my MIDI keyboard. my only gripe is the STEEP learning curve especially for someone with no piano skills. its fun i will be playing this lots more but it is a big thing to learn since it gets pretty crazy at times. and the notes could maybe use a bit more colour i find them hard to see coming especially when your tryna figure out where to put your hands next. regardless amazing game concept cant wait to see what comes of it.

Not hard to understand what is what. I suck at it but hey i love it.
