A literal scam that stole money from many Kickstarter backers

How do I say this... This game massively, and I mean MASSIVELY, hyped me back when the kickstarter was announced. I even pledged some extra money for the beta access and plushie. Now that I could finally get my hands on the game, all I can say is that I am incredibly disappointed. You'll probably say "but it's a beta demo!", to which I'll reply to you yes, but this is supposed to represent at least 6 *years* of development. When I finally could play, I couldn't shake off the feeling of the game feeling very amateurish, like a solo dev doing a small project in their free time. The general feel of the game felt incredibly hollow. For example, you have almost 0 ambiance when exploring the world. No footsteps, no wind, no nothing. Simply a permanently looping soundtrack. It really sapped my immersion. Fighting with some creatures felt really messy, and sometimes really lacked impact, which didn't make it very fun. That being said, Kodoki felt pretty solid though. I really fear this game being a total flop when if finally does release. It has been delayed too much, and pretty much all hype about this game is now gone. It's going to get completely overshadowed by other creature col…

I am SO EXCITED about this project. I backed this Kickstarter YEARS ago and increased my pledge several times during the campaign, and then gave more money to the studio directly afterwards. This is everything I want in a monster collecting/open world game. The combat is skill and knowledge based. It's diverse, it's dynamic, and the death mechanic is cool. There are actual consequences for biting off more than you can chew. At the time of review, the world is well textured and believable. I do hope that in the actual release there is more clutter and signs of a lived in world. But so far I am absolutely loving everything about it. I would 100% keep an eye out for this game.

A fun little something while the main game is being made. I have fun playing this and I have high hopes. Making a game like this is hard af and I'm proud to see how far this game has come. I've been following since 2021 and I love seeing the progress bit by bit.
