It is a project clearly driven by passion, with a strong emphasis on homage and aesthetic identity, but it ultimately delivers an experience that feels uneven when measured against the expectations of the fighting game genre. Each character is designed to reflect a distinct fighting style, giving players a range of options when approaching combat. On a conceptual level, this diversity adds interest and variety, encouraging experimentation with different techniques and strategies. I don't know that I'd call this a good fighting game but if you're thinking of buying it then you can probably guess that that's hardly the point. It delivers in exactly all of the ways that it wants to, and it has an absolutely delightful level of jank if you've got a healthy appreciation for jank in an action game. If you're not looking for some novelty, or if you come in trying to find a competitive fighting game in this, you're gonna feel pretty bad. Everyone else: get it on a discount, soak up the vibe, groove to the menu music, laugh a little, and have fun trying to make your wish dot com fighters do what you want them to do.

This game had the potential to be a good PS1 style fighting game, but unfortunately it does not meet that standard; it feels like the game was 70% completed before the developer decided to just quit it

Kings of Kung Fu is 'old school' in every sense of the word, and that is a compliment. The graphics look like a grainy 1980s Kung Fu movie straight out of Hong Kong, the soundtrack grooves away and the animations, whilst janky, do the job as you beat you way through opponents. Most characters are worth playing and they have a solid move list. You can spam your way to victory (there's actually no choice for the last achievement), but it is much better being curious and inventitve, especially when you roll off a 7+ combo. This clearly isn't a AAA title, and that is perhaps a blessing. Apparently made by a single developer, they've stayed true to not only their vision of kung-fu, but the traditional elements of the discipline as well. It's grounded, uncomplicated and a lot of fun. I first played this over a decade ago, I've enjoyed revisiting and mopping up content in this title.

Kings of Kungfu is a Fighting Game and its selling point is the Shaw Brothers inspired Fighters. There is no Jackie Chan, no Bruce Lee, No Jet Li or Chuck Norris, but you clearly recognize them because they look veeeeeeery close to the originals. The Controls are average but not bad. It feels a little limited if you ever played a Tekken Game in your life but actually the game still is fun. There isn´t a real ending sequence in the game except your character portairt in the End a "You won" Screen. But still. The game is entertaining, especially for Kung Fu Film Nerds These ones can spend the ten bucks without even to hestitate. All others maybe wait for a sale.
