What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players appreciate the game's vengeance-driven narrative and animated character artwork, particularly praising the CG quality and cutscene work. However, common complaints center on outdated mechanics like tiny fixed window sizes from the 1980s, overly linear and repetitive gameplay with stock sprites creating visual inconsistency, frustrating key-binding systems that require trial-and-error, and controversy over Steam's censorship patches that contradict the game's adult content warnings.
A true basement-tier game. Without the patch it is worth $1. Add another $2 to the value if you intend to download the patch from Wasabi. The patch is free, but it does add value to the game by adding content, although it uses mosaique censorship. The Good: The game has an interesting vengeance plot vibe—sort of a dungeon crawling, high fantasy version of the old Clint Eastwood movie, Sudden Impact. The Bad: OLD style dungeon crawler. Plan to figure out what key does what. You will get it eventually. Hint: [Esc], z, [Enter] and the arrow keys will cover most of what you will need. The Ugly: The game’s only window size is tiny (I am guessing 640 x 480). We must have time warped into the 1980s—also reminiscent of Sudden Impact. The window size cannot be changed or maximized. I sent a request for help to Wasabi a week ago and have not yet received a reply. (Update--it has now been 11 months and nothing.) [strike]There is no full screen mode.[/strike] You can toggle full screen mode via [Alt]-[Enter]. There is no volume control, mouse support, or controller support. You can’t do screenshots with Steam. Any use of F12 will make you regret your rash action. I bought the game on sale…31 found this helpful
[h1]Mixed bag – Better than Dark Sphere, but still hard to recommend[/h1] Knight Slave is technically a prequel to Dark Sphere, though it's meant to be played after. And in many ways, it’s a more polished, feature-rich game. The art for Refia and the maids is absolutely gorgeous, with nicely animated CGs and Dorgel really excels at great RPG Maker cutscene work. Unfortunately, everything else uses stock sprites, which kills the visual cohesion. The gameplay is simple and painfully linear. The overworld is a straight path, and each “dungeon” is just a line of checkpoints with battles, RNG events, and a final boss. Combat includes a QTE mechanic where you input keys to cast spells, which is meant to add something new, but it’s repetitive, shallow, and can be turned off(Which you should, detracts from the experience because the game is very unbalanced). Enemies also clearly display their weaknesses, making fights extremely predictable. The story is... there. It's simple and serviceable at best, but the translation is atrocious, full of broken grammar, some lines are outright mistranslated, with words that don’t fit the context at all, making certain scenes confusing or outright non…5 found this helpful

This game looks really good, but Steam forces players to download a patch that censors the game. The game page has an "Adults Only" warning, so players expect adult content. It doesn't make any sense to post this content warning, only to censor the product. The main character is walking around with barley a stitch on, and Steam thinks that's appropriate for all ages?! (with the All Ages Patch on the game) Very hard pass.2 found this helpful
The Alternate ending is where the challenge at, so play the full game!1 found this helpful
