KuniTure

Despite some truly frustrating sections, I love that this game doesn't pretend to be something it's not. Platformer with a picture told story, seizure inducing graphics, and hair-pullingly frustrating challenges. This game is addictive as they come, and I lost hours trying to get past a challenge before I realized it. 8/10 Lost 2 points for lack of audio settings, and extreme difficulty of some areas with a lack of visual clues for excess. The music fits the game, but the ability to adjust the volume would be nice.

"KuniTure" is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a particularly badly made, generic puzzle platformer with a "rage" element as the developer couldn't work out how to make a game people would actually enjoy playing. I guess they were trying to make an even worse version of Super Meat Boy without considering that Super Meat Boy already exists. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. The graphics here are particularly awful, mismatch…
