Lemon Cake

It is a cozy little game where you serve cakes. If you are looking for something hard or challenging this is NOT for you. I mostly just play it, when i wanna do something mindless and listen to something.

This game was more stressful than I cared to experience. It puts obstacles that are routine breaking while you're trying to make the desserts for your customers: sweeping the dirt from the floors that slow you down, having to brush down animals or watering the fruit plants so that they produce their ingredients. And for what? A small amount of money. Meanwhile the upgrades cost a lot of money so you have to grind the levels over and over to accrue enough money to buy the upgrades. Playing this game was more like a job than a game I can enjoy. Got so sick of the grind for little money that I just stopped and uninstalled it. To hell with how the bakery turns out. Even the positive reviews said when you upgrade, they remove the old stress, but add new things that will stress you out. No thank you. There are better games that aren't grindy to upgrade, that don't have things breaking down or having desserts burning in the oven because you couldn't get to them in time, just to fill out the game. The grind and obstacles in the way while you're trying to prepare the desserts just aren't worth my time when they cause stress instead of relaxation and fun. And for that, I can't recommend …

I really tried to like this game and ended up putting way more hours into it than I expected but I still just couldn't get into it. The graphics and art style are incredibly charming, that's what made me pick it up in the first place but the gameplay is too repetitive and never feels rewarding. * Crafting higher-priced products requires significantly more ingredients from your garden but the "extra" profit isn't worth the time and effort. You're honestly better off mass-producing the cheaper, easier items. * The helper AI is frustratingly bad. She prioritizes stocking display trays instead of serving waiting customers which slows down service and cuts into your profits. Even after closing time, it'll still restock displays instead of using those products to fulfill the remaining customer orders. * The QoL "upgrades" that are supposed to make things easier actually make the game more frustrating. The rail system's ingredient priority is poorly designed and can easily waste ingredients if you aren't constantly paying attention. It's alright - not enough automation as you level up and gameplay stays mostly the same - not very satisfying after 2-3 hours.

It's a very good game. Controls are not perfect on Steam Deck, but I got used to it. After some time it gets a little repetitive, but I'm just playing one day at once. Overall I really enjoy it, Lemon Cake is my daily calm time.
