This HOG was likely made by the devil. i got to a point where i was expected to find not one, but two match sticks in a scene. My tired old clown eyes hurt just from thinking about finding match sticks. it is only one step above literally searching for a needle in a haystack. In a world where the AI can't even find the motorcycle in the captcha that i needed to find in order to purchase this game for 26 cents, i do not think i should have to find any match sticks.

Les Misérables: Cosette’s Fate is a narrative-driven hidden object adventure developed by Mzonestudio and published by Microïds Indie, offering an interactive interpretation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel. Rather than attempting to retell the full epic scope of Les Misérables, the game narrows its focus to Cosette’s early life under the harsh guardianship of the Thénardiers. By centering the experience on her childhood struggle, it aims to provide a more intimate, accessible slice of the broader literary work while blending storytelling with casual puzzle mechanics. The gameplay structure follows the conventions of hidden object adventures. Players explore detailed, static environments inspired by 19th-century France, searching for specific items embedded within richly illustrated scenes. Each discovered object contributes to story progression, unlocking new locations or triggering short narrative segments. In addition to hidden object sequences, the game introduces light puzzle elements and mini-games designed to vary the pacing. These segments are generally straightforward, prioritizing accessibility over complexity, and are intended to complement rather than overshadow the unfo…

I have a lot of things to say about this game. First of all, the way the characters are drawn is an absolute eyesore. It looks like the artstyle you'd see in a clickbaity ad for some crappy app-store game, which is not great for a game that costs actual money, even if not a lot. The backgrounds, on the other hand, are nicely done. Secondly, there are some inaccuracies I've noticed; here, Valjean adopts Cosette in 1826, which is three years after it's supposed to happen in the book. Furthermore, Cosette meeting Gavroche for the first time makes no sense, as he is a Thénardier. She would/should have already known him already. The two appear to be closer in age than they are supposed to be. It is also a bit disappointing that Éponine was elluded to but never actually appears nor is mentioned again after the intro. Now, onto the actual game. The puzzles and mini-games were quite fun but some of the objects were atrociously hard to find. There HAVE been better point and click puzzle games, though I am not too familiar with this genre, so I can't comment on this too much. One misstep, however, can cause the game to be completely halted and being forced to start a new safe file, with a…

Had I paid full price for this game, I think I would've been extremely let down, but I got at a 90% discount. That's honestly the only time I'd even slightly recommend this game. It's extremely short, the HO scenes are fine but a bit boring and the story is faithful to the book adaptation of Les Miserables.
