lil' Sherman

lil' Sherman is a low poly hybrid third person vehicle shooter and tower defense game. Gameplay consists of driving a "chibi" miniature tank around, shooting at waves of enemies, and building towers. Refreshingly, there's a nice upgrade path for various parts of your tank and so on. This really does seem like a genuine attempt to make a game, and thus deserves a fairly in-depth review. Along with the welcome upgrade path, you've got a decent array of towers you can choose from, and most importantly the way the tank handles is pretty good, making the game somewhat fun to play... something often overlooked by amateur developers. Overall the game seems like it should have some potential, but there's flaws, too, deep enough that they prevented this from being the slam dunk it might have been. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. I like this game and wanted to like it much more but its just a bit half baked. The gameplay is good and I LOVE the ideas here: tower defense with a tank doing some of the heavy lifting WITH upgrades/metaprogression too! brilliant. I really do love that. Even if they never tweaked the controls, and even if the game never got a tutorial or good documentation it would still be ok IF they had substantially spent more time on the waves/difficulty. The first level is brutally hard, and on steam discussions most people can't get past the second no matter what. Its just a matter of balance, like just change some values on a spreadsheet basically and this would be very fun. on level 1 lower the enemies per round and maybe just two rounds. then stretch it out a lot going between levels by making it easier like that so it ramps up. A bunch more upgrades would be cool too but just someone to spend a day or two balancing the wave difficulties would make this really fun and it would just have the rough edges of being a small team indie game which are perfectly fine. as it is its not good unfortunately. its really cute and cool BUT breaking a module you worked hours to get when you try to upgrade it is REEEEEEEEEAAAAAAALLLY annoying this should be a 1% chance of happening especially when your in the late game and the module that was carrying you the whole breaks and it even happens often

Best tower defense game I have ever played. Recommended highley
