About Little Nemo and the Guardians of Slumberland
You're coming back to a dream you haven't had in some time, Nemo. It must feel familiar, but something is wrong…Little Nemo combines metroidvania exploration with classic 2D platformer gameplay. You'll discover new toys throughout Slumberland, each granting a unique ability that will expand your platforming toolkit, opening up new areas to explore and new strategies for defeating enemies and bosses. Slumberland is full of wildly varied regions, each with its own atmosphere, inhabitants, and surprises, all interconnected into a vast, seamless world packed with secrets and collectibles for the curious dreamer to find. The waters of Oblivion are consuming Slumberland. It's up to you, Nemo. To save it, you'll need to remember this dream before it's washed away by the dawn and lost forever.
The hand-drawn, parallax background and tileset art for each domain pair with their own evocative soundtrack made by Peter Berkman of Anamanaguchi. Make sure to look for a Cassette Tape in each domain to unlock that song in the Music Player!
Familiar Foes
From the simple Burrchin that will bristle at your approach to the Boo-Hoo that will haunt nearby items and chase anyone trying to steal them. Each domain's cast of enemies will keep you on your toes.
Unique Mechanics
Each domain includes its own mechanical flourishes and surprises from the Toy Trains and Bouncing Platforms of Nightlight City to the Toggle Crystals of Crystal Caverns.
Unforgettable Characters
Make sure to seek out the dream denizens living in each domain, as they will all play an important role in rescuing Slumberland. In addition, each domain is home to a Guardian who will be able to help you reach the Palace to find King Morpheus, so that you can stop the Oblivion once and for all.
With the "Challenging" difficulty option, you'll be expected to take advantage of the game's precision of movement to survive with only 3 hearts. Avoid taking damage and you'll eventually Rank Up, making the enemies of Slumberland even more challenging!Players Seeking Adventure
The "Fair" difficulty option will disable the Rank Up system and offer you double health, allowing more leniency and room for mistakes. This is a great option for players who want to focus on exploration and adventure with less focus on mastery.Or Fully Customize Your Adventure
You can even fully adjust and fine-tune your difficulty settings to meet your needs with options like triple health, invulnerability, and time scaling. These options are always available to you in the game's pause menu.

I am only ~5 hours in now. Past the first 2 bosses. But this game is seriously massively impressive. It is absolutely ADORABLE! This game basically starts where the NES game ended. Nemo is back in Slumberland and needs to save it... again. We meet old friends and new ones. Also some challenges. I especially like how innocent and cute this game is designed. It is something you can play with your children of any age. However, for the younger ones it might be too challenging to play it by themselves. Still, the story will excite them. Also - without spoiling - it has the most unique boss fight in a video game EVER! Never encountered something like this before. The creator had some fantastic ideas, and set them in motion in the most unique fashion. Sir, I take off my hat, and raise my glass to you! You have created something very impressive! Something you need many talents for. Coding, Math (shader), Artwork, Story telling... Please continue making such awesome games!4 found this helpful
I like Little Nemo, but I was double-interested by the strikingly colourfully crafted visuals and it also being from a debut indie studio. With no expectations (didn't even know a new Little Nemo game was out lmao), I had a very marvelous time with Guardians of Slumberland! I enjoy Metroidvanias, but between the skill ceiling tending to climb too high for my ability to account for or just plain getting lost and exhausted with it... I don't tend to roll credits on these types of games a whole lot! But I went through the effort for this one and was very happy with my 10ish hours in Slumberland. In contrast, I found this game tough, but never too tough for me; a stiff challenge, but gentle where it counts. Special shout-out to the dynamic scaling difficulty. Did God Hand inspire this game?! Amazing. The one thing I will say that breaks my heart—my investment was not so much in the story for this one. There IS good writing; true moments of wistful reflection and beauty; it's nice, and very cute and soft, but it was never the driving force for me; the act of playing and exploring and messing with new power-ups and exploring this gorgeous dream-world was the thing. So when the ending h…4 found this helpful

A charming and accessible Metroidvania that beautifully honors its source material while carving out its own unique identity.1 found this helpful
Stumbled upon this game by complete surprise in the steam sale. A little over an hour in and I've beaten two bosses and I'm completely hooked. If there was a single word I could use to describe this game, it'd be charming. OOZING with charm in the best way. The music is an earworm, the art style is terrific, even the story, something I normally check out of with these kinds of games, has me interested. It just seems so... cute. Like it reminds me of being a little boy. Sometimes a game comes a long and hooks my heart immediately. This is shades of Wonder Boy in the best way. Deeply satisfied with this purchase already. Played on an AMD BC-250 using Bazzite and it runs like a dream (no pun intended).1 found this helpful
This game definitely shows that a game feeling like an NES game without looking like one doesn't have to mean it feels dated. Depending how determined you are to navigate areas you're not technically equipped for, you can play this game more open ended than it means you to, giving the player as much room to follow the recommended path as it does to allow freely exploring the world, though, you'll find that you're unable to fully explore places without the moves you may have missed going somewhere early.1 found this helpful
