About Long Night
Long Night: Alone I break is the first episode of a three episodes season. The next episodes will be released in the next few months
Concept
Long Night is a Third Person Survival-Horror video game series which aims to reconnect with the atmosphere of its ancestors, the old classics from the 90's and early 2000
With this game Trickster Face wants to put Lurking Fear back to the center of the gaming experience, rather than pure action sustained by an escalation of noisy special effects.
Here we have no shot guns nor giant monsters, but simply David, a youngster who can only count on your pugnacity and your instinct, to survive, and save his friends.
Synopsis
This black tale takes place in an American holiday camp next to a forest, at the end of a summer in the nineties.
The heroes are a group of four teenage friends, accustomed to meet there every year. Spending their last evening together telling horror stories for fun, they find themselves plunged into a nightmare, bringing their most secret anguishes to life, tormenting them. All of a sudden everyone is on his own. During the night David will try to find and help his friends, but doing so, he will have to face worse than the fear that pursues him.
Features:
- Take control of your environment, keep the balance of your mental state to run and hide from your nemesis
- Resolve enigma to understand the intimacy of the 4 teenagers and become the wall between them and their fears.
- Explore Long Night camp to discover great side quests, giving better understanding of the background.
- Choose to play with Old School (without checkpoints and interaction icons) or Modern Gameplay (with all the help you want)

Long Night is rated 17+ M for mature by ESRB for the following content

Literally one of the first games I ever bought on Steam. But also the first game to have burned me. This should have been a Steam Greenlight or Early Access game, but instead it came as a "full" game with episodic content. And then it was abandoned. Great concept, great atmosphere, great promise. Janky controls, broken mechanics, and ends just when it started to get really good. As I write this from 10 years in the future, it's because I was all in on this game and totally miss what could have been.3 found this helpful
The animation sequences were pretty cool and well made... albeit the subtitles were sometimes hard to read due to how fast they were going. They also had occasional typos i.e. "loose the control". The old school aesthetic and environment were both well done. Now for the not so great parts... you play as a guy trying to find his friends at a haunted campground. If you're not in one of the couple houses that you can access, you often have to run away from some demon lady. There are a limited number of hiding spots you can use, or you run for a while until she gives up. The running part wouldn't be as bad if it weren't for the biggest issue this game has: the camera angles. The third person camera snaps to predetermined angles for every area. It's disorienting as all hell, especially when you're trying to run away. There are also several times were they use a rotated camera angle making it further confusing. There are other unpolished aspects, such as the UI when picking up a note being a completely out of place wall of text. Another issue is that there is just not much gameplay here. As mentioned, there are only a couple houses that you can go into. Similarly, there are onl…1 found this helpful
Long Night is an okay horror adventure game that shows some promise which sadly I don't think it will ever be completed, okay then story. In camp Long Night four friends are telling each other's scary stories, a usual Camp activity but one kid David talks about a real ghost story told to him by the owner of the camp. So to prove it is real or not the four friends go over to the mysterious cabin and do the ritual, only to be proven that the ritual is true. Now David alone must find his friends and figure out how to escape this nightmare or be just another victim of a campfire story. Now like time, the story is okay this game was supposed to be episodic before it was discontinued which is sad as it had some potential, anyway here is what I liked about the story. I liked the themes/talk of Parental abuse from an emotionally unstable parent I think it was done well. I also liked the Native American themes and I feel like if the game continued it would have more to it. The gameplay is okay it's just a simple get from point A to point B as you hide from the stalker and solve light puzzles, nothing really to write home about. The graphics are okay with some nice uses of colors and some …
10 years later, I've finally beaten this. Heavily Silent Hill inspired, however just enough of it's own lore and mystery to keep me engaged, I do wish they would release a script outline for what they planned to do with this
Love how the game is flirting with the old third person survival horror such as SH or RE. Fixed camera angles, a very familiar protagonist and strange things that is happening at the Long Night Camp. I found weird dolls everywhere that kept freaking me out. Wish that there were more episodes. Have had this game in the backlog for a decade, still really enjoyed it as third person survival horrors are one of my favourites.
Billed as episode 1, this game now lays abandoned by a developer/publisher that I think is defunct at this point. Now it's just part of the glut of low budget horror games strewn on Steam that essentially exist to make low quality youtube fodder--although Long Night seems to have received very little exposure in the first place.
