Lord O' Pirates

Surprisingly good bullet heaven, surprising because the art looks just a tiny bit better than one of those "dude learns how to code a video game in three weeks, uses MS Paint to draw it" specials that are all over Steam, but no. The graphics look fine if you zoom in a bit (leave the field of vision on default rather than wider), and they have a good sense of humor to them. Combined with the over the top music, they make this game more charming and unique than you'd expect for the Steam bargain bin. At first the game feels floaty, but yeah, you're in a boat on water. Your ship should be a little unwieldly, and this is remedied by both holding the X (drift) button when turning, and you can also upgrade turn speed and tightness with in-run powerups and meta powerups. Or choose a ship with a better turning radius. Which leads me into the next point of what this game does well: powerups and unlocks. There's a ton of them, and most of them fit the pirate/nautical theme really well. How about attack parrots circling your boat? Or sending out musical attack notes from a sung pirate shanty? Aside from the charming theming, the game offers nothing better than other games have offered. Mechanically the enemies are sponges, the drift feels like the friction is too high, and pickup range is 0. Progression seems quite standard without anything special to set it apart from the dozens of other games that do this genre better.

super fun and addicting game i cant stop playing love it

This is prob the most uninspired game I've ever encountered. Just no.

It's good. It has a bit of a difficulty curve because the mechanics are a little different from games of a similar genre, but I enjoyed it. I have been looking for more games that incorporate an exploration element into the traditional idle run-around-the-map mechanic, and this one delivered. Not my cup of tea, but I want to see more games like this where you beat up mobs while dungeon-crawling/exploring.

TL;DR: This is a super fun, addictive game! Highly recommend to anyone who's a fan of the genre (and even those who aren't!)! I don't usually play this type of game, but I'm hooked! I love the variation of enemies, unique level design, cleverness and humor, and the theme song SLAPS. It's super fun to unlock new ships and captains, and I love all of the animation and sprites. My goblin brain goes brr (or maybe it should be 'shiver me timbers') whenever I collect gold and level up my ship's abilities and stats. I want to keep playing and unlock new items and quests and I WANT TO PET THAT DOG. 10/10, highly recommend.
