Lost Lands: Redemption Collector's Edition

This game had some of the more annoying and tedious puzzles I've encountered in awhile for a HOG. You will definitely want to reference the strategy guide and walkthrough videos throughout playing the game unless you choose to skip most of the puzzles. Everything else in the game was alright with the expected high quality cutscenes and work put into a story that spans across the series. With the puzzles being as annoying as they were, I can't recommend the game at this time.

This game is a perfect example of "be careful what you wish for". I was so disappointed when the audio didn't work, but now that they've fixed it, I almost wish they hadn't. The disappointment of not being able to play the game was better than the rage-inducing frustration caused by this game. I honestly have no idea how this game has so many positive reviews. I'll admit up front that I'm not a hardcore gamer. I play casually as time permits. Having said that, I very much enjoy puzzle games and don't typically have any problems with them (and that includes all of Five-BN's other games). This game, however, was simply infuriating. frozenFire782's review is right about the mini-games, and that's what makes this game infuriating. I played it for 90 minutes (the first 70 minutes of my 2.7 hour "playtime" was the initial time spent trying to get it to work and then diagnosing the audio issue), and 80-90% of that time I was miserable. As much as it pains me, I do not plan on finishing this game. Simply put, the mini-games are rage-inducing. They are not logic-based; they are trial-and-error. lotsa bang for the buck

I cannot recommend this particular hidden object adventure game because it has some of the most convoluted confusing puzzles of any game I have played in the Lost Lands series. I can't even count the number of times that I had to skip puzzles in this game. I also found myself clicking the hint button way too often. The puzzles just kept getting more and more tediously difficult the longer I played. I finally gave up and uninstalled once I reached a puzzle where you had to press buttons to rotate locks in order to free chips from the locks. I was done at that point mainly because of how many puzzles I had skipped up to that point and how I just lost interest in the game. I also found the whiny teenage son character annoying and the mostly snowy outdoor settings uninteresting. I would much rather play three better games in the Lost Lands series Four Horsemen (2015), X (2025), and Stories About Sorceress, Prince, and Minotaur (2026).

I love all of the Lost Lands games by FiveBN. However, I was recently informed directly by FiveBN that 'ALL' of their games on Steam can only be played with full capabilities one time. They have removed the option to change player so this means that although the game can be played again, it is without full capabilities such as collectables and morphing items.

Liked it because I've played the others in the series. This game, however, seemed to lack as much documentation, such as journal entries, for much of the action. Despite my familiarity with the series, I ended up randomly clicking just to get through scenes. If you're new to the series, start with Dark Overlord.
