About M.E.R.C.
Welcome to Neotopia – the last city standing. Riddled with corruption and greed of corporations, the city is divided. The forces of Manta have destabilized progress toward sustainability. Your mission, commander, is to recruit, train, and deploy a squad of elite mercenaries and neutralize the Manta threat. Don’t shit the bed.
Step into the world of non-stop, real-time tactical strategy engagements with a 4-person squad. Upgrade and recruit units, learn and enhance special abilities, while acquiring better weapons and gear. Take your toughest and bravest recruits into action in co-op multiplayer and save humanity from the suppressive Manta force.

Control your mercenary squad as a 4-person team – advance units, take cover, designate units to engage with special abilities. For seriously tricky tactical firefights, break the squad into 2-person pods - Alpha and Bravo and wreak havoc.

Team up with other players in co-op multiplayer action. Combine forces by taking your best two units into battle with their best units. Play through story missions, campaigns and side missions together to take down the uprising of Manta.

The Sprawl is a mysterious cyberpunk world, with new dangers around every corner. Anticipate and conquer challenges by managing the composition of your team based on the needs of missions, including unit capability, strength and special ability. Successful missions will be rewarded with financial bonuses and increased reputation. Use the rewards wisely to enable optimal progress for your troops.

Your merc squad will encounter many extreme challenges. Train your units to take on Manta with multiple unit classes– Assault, Sniper, Heavy & Engineer. Further specialize the units with sub-classes such as Medic, Hacker, etc. and take them into battle to gain XP and Skill Points to unlock more special abilities.

poor performance and abandoned by the devs. dont waste your money.1 found this helpful
This game has a great concept, but game play is not so great. 1. Game Saves - You cannot save to another slot. You current save is your only save! So there is no going back before a mission. There is no quick save, so if you in the middle of a mission and have to leave the game. You will automatically fail the mission and have to start over. 2. Character Models - Not a large variety, 6 distinctive looking character (4 male / 2 female). Would not be bad if you was not allowed to get more that 6 characters on the team. For me, when you have to replace an injury teammate with look alike, just a different name, it takes away from the game. 3. Heal Time VS Game Play Time - It takes a whole day to partially heal you team members. When you have a group of missions that need to be accomplished in 5 days total. Imagine having to spend two days to fully heal your team after each mission. And not enough money to hire units because you spent most of it on armor and weaponry, you will be bring out partially healed units back on to the field and have to be extra cautious. 4. Camera Angles & Camera Toggle - You restricted to little distance from your unit. So you cannot scan far ahead to…1 found this helpful
This game had too many ambitious ideas and not enough essentials. I liked the graphics but they run poorly. It has janky controls and a janky game loop. I can confirm Tiny Mobs shut down the majority of their operations some time in 2016 very shortly after MERCs release. I feel like if they had got their core ideas out there earlier it would have been obvious what was working and what wasn't, but instead you get a bit of a mishmash of stuff that's overwhelmingly excellent and stuff that's janky and only a fraction of it is compelling in any way. Long and heavy tutorial section, on-ramping is tedious.
Had potential but it's abandonware. Just another game that didn't even left early access.
Looking forward for the full release of this creative and interesting game!!
tl;dr - Cripplingly boring and repetitivw. fun for the first 1.5-2 hours. After that, overly redundant and simple. Especially once you get better gear. -- difficulty: So, not having the options to change the difficulty does make it rough at the start, since you can easily go into a mission you are not ready for. the "threat assesment" isn't so much a warning of how much damage the enemies do so much as it's a heads up on how many enemies you will encounter. .... Controls: A bit odd, but not clunky as lots of people describe. Just not typical. but can easily perform maneuvers. Camaera: Camera stays with the squad. when you select both squads it can jump. and it can get stuck in some odd angles at times. Limited range, but u can pan a away from the group for a moment.... think of it as the camera only lets u go so far as fog of war. Not bad, but not great... neutral. graphics great graphics and visuals. love the map layout as well. And now, back to the difficulty.... it's easy to save money. and once you've got say ... 10k to outfit one soldier, it just gets easier from there. The armor, while helpful, only adds about 10-20% hp via dmg mi…
