Machick: 8.9h | 100% Achievements (24/24) Completed | Not Recommended
I came expecting a magical world with magic chickens. I left with 83 crafted wands I've never used, a mute button, and a profound understanding of what "lukewarm" means.
Achievement Breakdown
Grindy Achievements: Yes (~3).
What is Machick About?
Machick is a Vampire Survivors-style bullet heaven with a twist: instead of each character having a different weapon, you craft custom wands that change projectile types, damage stats, attack speed, and different buffs. You play as a magic chicken, survive timed waves, collect experience, and look at the screen questioning your life by the time you take into account it's your 6th play and you're doing the same thing over and over. It is an OK game. Has a few bugs, the audio is sometimes super loud for no reason, the rain sound constantly plays even when salt rain isnt equipped etc. but nothing too major just annoying things. The gameplay itself is pretty decent but after 2-3 rounds (about 30-40 minutes of gameplay) you unlock basically everything and that's it. There are 5 level but I had to force myself to play the last 2 level because at this point it got very repetitive already. Overall I would say it's an ok game and if you lust for more survivor games give it a go but for the price it is just not worth it in my opinion. There are better free survivor games, games with the same polish for 1 euro and games with much more content and overall gameplay for the same price so it is not inherently bad but just not worth the money.
goober
Nice. Definitely better than Vampire Survivors but not as good as The Brotato. Pretty good, tiene un diverse catalogue of items that evolve and have several upgrades. The projectile effects look great, but the menu needs a little Polish. The wand crafting is a great feature but feels inconsequential. Also needing to craft 100 wands is such a dumb achievement but doesn't take TOO long. I'd say it's worth its price.
This is a really competently made little game. If you’re looking for a bite-sized Survivors experience, I totally recommend this. I had fun with it, and finished everything in about 6 hours. You are a magic chicken (ma-chick) with a wand who need to defend their home from the frog scourge. The game brings two things to the table: first, the ability to modify your base attack by customizing your magic wand. This was a clever little system and I enjoyed toying around with it; while in some cases expensive parts = better, there was also room for playstyle customization (eg, I don’t think any of the elements were really inherently superior), and it was really satisfying to lose a run, make an upgrade to the run, and go back in and beat it. The focus on modifying your main attack for progress meant runs really felt in your hands; it also helped mitigate the small array of available weapons. Especially once you hit the 20 minute levels, you’re going to be grabbing every weapon — though personally I liked the trial-and-error of seeing which order I wanted to grab things in, what I wanted to pour levels into versus what can wait, etc. The wand was a neat little system and added a lot to t…
