The idea of exploring a haunted location and collecting donations during a stream to buy items that help you uncover more clues is a great idea for a game, but not this game. The execution is atrocious, from the player character's lack of voice acting and tiny text dialogue that displays at the very bottom of the screen, to the flat, overlapping text menus and journal entries with no graphical overlay, and the poor, ESL style writing quality in general, this feels like a slightly above average first attempt or personal project that just didn't put enough care into the concept to make it worth playing. Finding keys is a pixel hunting nightmare; within the first 10 minutes I was locked inside a 3 room block with no way out and a lost signal which eventually ends the game. There is no ambient lighting and findable items don't have any kind of indicator, so you are stuck with the circumference of a tiny ring light in the middle of the screen to comb over every surface for something key shaped as a heavy breathing sound sample plays loudly on repeat. It's a great concept that will hopefully get picked up by more capable hands.4 found this helpful
I had a good time with this one. It was fun to pretend to be a streamer for a while. It wasn't super scary (note that I played with the jump scares turned off), but in this case I didn't mind too much, it was more of a urban exploration experience with paranormal elements, to me anyway. My biggest gripe is that 2 achievements appear to be broken. I would recommend if you are looking for a simple, fun game.
Madhouse Madness: Streamer's Fate is a first-person psychological horror experience that blends classic haunted-asylum exploration with a contemporary twist rooted in livestream culture. Developed and published by Hurrycat Studios, the game places you in the role of a streamer whose attempt to create thrilling content spirals into a nightmarish ordeal. Rather than relying solely on shock value, the game leans heavily on mood, unease, and gradual narrative revelation, aiming to make players feel trapped not just in a decaying institution, but in the consequences of their own choices and curiosity. From the beginning, the setting does much of the heavy lifting. The abandoned madhouse is a labyrinth of narrow corridors, treatment rooms, locked wards, and shadow-filled halls that constantly suggest a grim history. Exploration is slow and deliberate, encouraging players to absorb environmental details such as flickering lights, distant sounds, and unsettling remnants of past inhabitants. The game uses space effectively, often forcing you to move forward with limited visibility, creating tension through anticipation rather than constant confrontation. The asylum feels less like a simple…
As a major fan of horror, I really wanted Madhouse Madness to deliver, but unfortunately, it fell flat. The game lacks the tension and atmosphere that make great horror games so compelling. To me, i felt the mechanics were a little bit awkward to control with. the difficulty spikes were unfair, and progress felt more like a tedious task than a thrilling adventure. For a game that’s supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat, Madhouse Madness just didn’t deliver the fear or excitement I was looking for, Of course im always open to retrying games after a few months, so maybe this review will change, but for now, it wasnt the sort of game i was hoping for. This game had potential but ultimately missed the mark in almost every way. If you’re a fan of horror games, I’d recommend looking elsewhere, Until at least theres a few updates / Fixes?
Words can't describe how good this game is but numbers can 4/10.
I was enjoying this a lot but it has some frustrating bugs and I couldn't get Twitch integration to work. I hope the developer makes some patches and updates to fix these issues because there is the beginnings of something really special happening here!
