Mage World is a "template flip", that is to say, it's a "game" that has been produced by copying a game template from GameMaker Studio, changing a few things, then dumping the barely functional "product" on Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab. In this case it was a GameMaker Studio template for doing a simple retro platformer game. The developer did put some effort into custom level design and a few sprites, but it's still ultimately just something slapped together using a game construction kit, rather than being properly and professionally developed. To add insult to injury, the developer didn't bother finishing the game, instead dumping it in an unfinished state on Steam Early Access, then selling keys to bundle shovelers like DailyIndieGame, took all the money and ran for the hills, abandoning the game with no real intention of completing it. The developer abandoned the game just one month after dumping it on Early Access, and hasn't bothered patching it since. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and results in terrible games like this one. Using a game construction kit requires no game development talent, and unsurprisingly produces products th…

Looks like someone put some love in this game! Full working controller support and i would even give it a try again! looks promising! If you like small indie platformers , give this one a try! but be aware in current its best played with keyboard , as some keys have no placement from the controller , like start key i can simply not live with a half finished solution!

Ayyaaz told me this is the best game ever made even though i died 12 times and never got any coins and the engluishw as crap, and i didnt even unlock the boss cos if you want to beat this game, you better be prepared to fork over your hard earned magebucks to the king, so he can pay alimony checks or maybe child support. Ultimately, i dont think nintendo should another mario game, because everyone will be playing this instead. Truly ushering steam into the forefront of the platform game genre.

This game feels like a product of ambition from an emerging developer, and I'm all for it. It's a basic platformer where you collect coins to unlock other worlds and extra lives, as well as new spells upon beating each world's boss. I'm a fan of this, besides the fact that you really don't need any other spell once you get Force Burst. I played through all the levels available as of now, and it's a pretty lengthy game for the price. That being said, it's overall fairly easy, and a lot of the levels don't have much that make them distinct from one another, but the levels in Episode 2 ramp up the difficulty considerably, and I found it pretty engaging, aside from a few somewhat frustrating jumps and enemy placements. Looking forward to how this game will end!
