Game
Metacell: Genesis ARCADE is an arcade game with the match 3 mechanic. Inspired by those old-school arcade games I grew up with and I wanted to emulate that experience within our own game. The basic gist of Arcade mode is a score attack mechanic where you want to survive to level 100 with the highest score by fighting back a never ending spawn of game pieces by making matches of 3 or more before the board fills up or even worse you are killed by one of the traps that could spawn at any moment. There are some things to make it not so hopeless; like some cool pickups, bombs and even extra lives.
Story
Summary Metacell: Genesis ARCADE is a sci-fi thriller that takes place in a distant future in which mankind has organized under a single galactic empire called the Imperium.
Having already mapped and expanded deep within their universe, the Imperium has turned their attention to what lies beyond, and they found it. They discovered the means to breach the walls of our verse and create a gateway to the other side, the Metaverse.
Once there the Holy Caste began their research into the newly discovered realm. Blinded by their eagerness for knowledge, they created an abomination known only as the Metacell. This monstrosity is a single-celled organism born from both meta and prime material, and mere moments after its creation it began to evolve and adapt at astronomical rates, escaping its containment and threatening the entirety of existence.
Now only one man and his crew have even the slightest chance to defeat the Metacell and save both of the verses.
Part 1 - Genesis The entry point into the saga this starts when the Imperium Palace gets word that the Genesis Project has gone terribly wrong and the Metacell has escaped and threatens the verses if not stopped. The protagonist High Paladin Dominic Moore and his crew are called in from their much needed vacation to put their lives on the line for what could be their last mission as they head to the Härkönen Abyss where Heaven’s Gate lies and enter the metaverse to defeat their foe.

A little bit about us, we are just a few friends that wanted to make something awesome, so that’s what we are doing.
We have been bootstrapping this project with no funding since day one (April 20, 2011) and have accomplished a ♥♥♥♥ ton and we continue to keep crushing it. The only thing that sucks is we have to budget our time on the project very carefully. We all have day jobs and families that take up the majority of our time. So development to say has been slow moving but forward movement none the less.

Metacell: Genesis turns Puzzle Bobble on its head and creates a wonderfully polished Arcade game that will have you frantically scanning the board for the next color match to keep your combo going. The soundtrack is stellar, packing a lot of intensity. The art is precise, and does a good job of keeping cells visually separate through both iconography and color. When reaching the later levels of the game, I feel like there could be more potential for comeback outside of bomb usage and the powerup that clears all of one color. If you fall too far behind around level 70+, all you can really do is stand there and lose all your lives. It might be cool if getting hit had a bomb effect? That'd open up the option to take hits on purpose at different parts of the board to try and find your footing again. I also wonder if the game would benefit from a "Hold" system like in Tetris, where you can store one cell to try and fish for a better option in the moment. That'd take away from the simple control scheme, so maybe not. As is, Metacell: Genesis is a great game that's very much worth the price! A pretty unique style of Match-3 game, and I really enjoy the concept. The closest puzzle game to compare it to would be Puzzle Bobble / Bust-A-Move. But instead of staying at the bottom of the board and bouncing your pieces into place, the board is round and you move around it, firing inward in a straight line. As you play, the inside grows new cells on its own - in addition to the ones you fire in, minus the ones you clear by matching 3 or more - and you sometimes get powerups that make area-clearing blasts or erase all pieces of that color when matched.. the standard sort of stuff. [b]But then the most interesting part.[/b] The 'board' you play on is a living organism that is trying to grow, and it's angry that you're trying to destroy it. As you're clearing pieces as quick as they can grow, the creature sends out more and more attacks to try to slow you down. It starts out pretty mild, only lashing out with a small, easy-to-avoid attack every now and then, but after a while it starts to get tricky. You can only take a few hits, then it's game over, so on top of trying to play quickly to build and maintain high combos, and stop the cells from growing outside the walls of …2 found this helpful

Great experience if you like arcade games! The music is great and the mechanics are on point. Super easy to pick up and learn. The mastery bit will have you keep coming back to reach that top spot. Makes me feel like a kid again!1 found this helpful

This game is genius. It is a mixture of the classic Galiga formula mixed with puzzle games we know and love, such as Puyo Puyo and Tetris. It's like the game from our childhoods that we simply never had, until now.1 found this helpful
