Spirits of Metropolis: Legacy Edition

They won't let me play the way I want. I can't work on it while paused. I can't slow down the timer. And it is ridiculously short time to do anything. I don't have time to think or figure out how the scoring works. It also doesn't show me the score after my attempt is done. The gems are kind of ugly because the game hasn't been updated to modern standards and the hitboxes for the gems are tiny. I need to bring the mouse over and hit that gem dead center in order for it to register and that takes extra time the game just won't give me. Its like they wanted this to be frustrating because it has interesting gameplay mechanics. They ruin it with the timer and high precision, fiddly hitboxes.

Spirits of Metropolis: Legacy Edition is a puzzle game that takes the recognizable foundations of match-3 design and introduces a more deliberate approach to building combinations. Developed and published by Vertigo Gaming Inc., it favors planning, chain construction, and controlled activation rather than simply rewarding players for spotting the first available match. Although its presentation unmistakably comes from an earlier period of independent PC gaming, the underlying mechanics remain distinctive enough to make it worthwhile for puzzle enthusiasts who value strategy over spectacle. The defining feature is the player's ability to exercise greater control over matches before setting them off. Instead of every completed combination disappearing the instant it is formed, the mechanics encourage setting up multiple connections and deciding when to trigger the resulting chain. This creates an interesting risk-and-reward structure. Activating a modest sequence immediately may provide safe progress, but carefully manipulating the board can produce substantially larger combinations. [h1] DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review [/h1] Spirits of Metropolis is a game developed and published by Vertigo Gaming, the same person behind the Cook, Serve, Delicious series The game offers some really nice graphics and a nice yet simplistic aesthetic which is pleasant all the same and has some amazing attention to detail even though it is a little rough around the edges The game does suffer with some repetitiveness at certain areas of the game but a fun game nonetheless and ends just at the right time Spirits of Metropolis overall, however, is an okay game to play, yet sometimes repetitive and it does get boring if being played for a long time, but is an okay strategy game to play in short bursts!
