Mind Trap

Hello! If you're reading this, you've stumbled into the weird part of your Steam Queue. You were probably looking for indie horror related stuff and somehow you ended up here. I don't imagine you've ever heard of Mind Trap (and from the reviews and discussions page, it seems like not many others have either). Mind Trap bills itself as an episodic Twilight Zone-inspired adventure game and no part of that description is true. Mind Trap was released in Sept 2019 with promise of 4 episodes and almost 3 years later there is still only 1 episode. It's not so much an adventure game as it is a narrative unlocked by series of disconnected puzzles (no, not inventory puzzles either). Also, nothing about the actual story seems Twilight Zone inspired in terms of tone or subject matter. If anything this is closer to a Great Value version of Stories Untold. The only thing that is remotely connected to the Twilight Zone is that there's a narrator in a suit who appears at the beginning and end. I want to mention here at the narrator is... bad. I LIKE THE PART OF THE GAME WHERE HE SAYS MIND TRAP BECAUSE THAT IS THE TITLE 10/10

"Mind Trap" is a rather poorly made abandoned Early Access "escape room" adventure puzzle game. Misleadingly advertising 4 episodes to prospective buyers, the developer partially finished one of them, took all the money that backers paid and ran for the hills. Not a single refund was given. The developers abandoned this 5 years and 3 months ago. It will never be completed. This unfinished game is just polluting Steam and making it harder for gamers to find genuinely, completely made games. This has some really mediocre looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarly visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $10 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product.…
