About Mindsight

Mindsight is a minimalistic evolution of a match-3 game. The goal of the game is to find all sets of three adjacent symbols whose characteristics either match or differ. Each symbol has three characteristics: Color, Shape, and Shading. The color can be blue, green, or red. The shape can be a triangle, a circle, or a square. And the shading can be solid, striped, or empty. Each of these characteristics either need to be the same or different for three consecutive horizontal or vertical symbols to make a set. You beat the level when you've found all possible sets on the board.

Can too much of a good thing be bad? Yes. Yes it can. If you play this game and have a low threshold for boredom, you will be howling in sheer despair at the repetitiveness of the puzzles. Hey, I'll admit I knew going in there wouldn't be much of a story... or *a* story, and that there would be one kind of puzzle only. But did there have to be... so.many.of.them?! And that the same classical piano would be playing non-stop?
I like classical btw, Baroque mostly, with some occasional forays into Medieval.
I know, I know- cry me a river, so I am 'cuz this is my party / review and I'll cry if I want to. Ok, now I'm gonna go play 10 more minutes of this for the achievements' sake. Ten minutes at a time is all I can handle without chewing my hands off. oh... yeah... I do recommend this game 'cuz easy cheevs (I'm so ashamed.)

This is based on a mathematical puzzle game called SET, which has been around forever, and spawned an ultra addictive game on Macintosh called Mind Thump. This is the only version left, after SET made damn sure that their intellectual property was not infringed (all copies of Mind Thump were removed from the internet). The music is nice, but unlike Mind Thump, there are no diagonals, meaning all games can be solved using brute force... but a for a 5 minute distraction, it could have been a lot worse. EDIT: 100% Completion... took a while... but the music is nice, and it's a bit of fun for the price !!!

Yeah uhm... It's actually fun. 10(0) puzzles a day makes the boredom go away (somewhat).

I.. guess I got what I asked for. Around 500 levels worth of practically the same puzzle, nothing introduced, the thing on the store page is practically the whole game. There are 6.. chapters? called packs, I have no idea what the difference between Pack 1, 2, or 3. The rest of the pack are based on size. Theres training, which is mechanically different from the whole game, and thus isnt really training. There is also random, which gives out random levels, that feels exactly the same as what Id imagine to be the designed levels. Overall, definitely not worth the money nor time.

Mindsight is a basic browser/Flash tier match-3 game with a twist, it's pretending to be one of those shonky "brain training" apps where you have to think a bit to create a matching set based on sequences/patterns. As usual if it can be done in a web browser, it's not a PC game. Steam is for PC games, for PC gamers, not mobile/browser games. You can play this kind of stuff for free in a browser, so why pay for it here?

I never expect that I can finish this game. It seems easy for most other reviewers but not for me at the beginning. I didn't understand the logic of the game at first. Even after I understood the game, I still made some mistake and I felt there were too many levels. I only enjoyed the game if I played the levels in stages instead of trying to finish the entire game. I would prefer the game gives me a second chance or two more chances instead of forcing me to replay the entire level from scratch if I make a mistake. I even took some notes to recognise the pattern to help me with the game at the beginning. Hard * Different colour, shading, and shape. Easy * Same colour, same shading different shape. * Same shading and shape, different colour. * Same colour, different shading. Medium * Same colour, different shading different shape. * Same shape, different shading, different colour. * Same shading, different colour, different shape. Very Easy * Everything is the same.
