MINOS

A tower defense game unlike many. High quality production features you controlling Daedalus, the inventor, and Minos, the minotaur. You control each one at a time, switching as you see fit. Daedalus sets his traps and remains an advising offboard bystander, Minos bashes things. A maze consists of a setup phase followed by the action phase. Erect & destroy walls to channel enemies near or over trap points, which you have wisely equipped with... traps. Kills garner you Experience, Gold, and Gems. Gold & Gems allow you to unlock and upgrade, but only Experience allows permanent meta progression. When you die, progress via the aforementioned two is reset, but Experience progress remains. This lends Minos a very welcome replay mechanism. Levels are randomly arrayed, not set pieces, so each replay is fresh. Traps are extremely finite in function per wave of enemies, yet you will quickly come to understand why, and how to successfully grapple with that. The more you play, the more you encounter, the more aspects you unlock. A very creative and worthwhile TD (tower defense) game.

This is one of those tower defense games that is much more of a puzzle game in a tower defense framing than a traditional tower defense game. So keep that in mind. There are multiple ways to solve each maze and there is customization but it is not a build traps and watch them die style. It's easy to lose if you're not paying attention, especially the further you go. So if you're looking for a game to turn your brain off and play this is not a good game for that. It's well made though and the story is interesting. I wish I enjoyed it more but the puzzle aspect got grating for me so I never wanted to go back and finish it.

Cool demo, but redesigned MC and shi*ty teen drama from the start. I hate that. Refund.

I can't say it's not good. Or at least decent, and the price is more than fair, so it's a recommend from me. Now, here comes the caveat: I didn't really "enjoy" it, though. Objectively, it's a fine game, in reality it got so tedious after a few hours, I just can't be bothered anymore. Sometimes the mazes are hard, okay, sometimes they're not. Some mazes are puzzle mazes or exploration mazes, but for me ... something is just missing, is just not scratching the itch as much as I want it to. For others, this will be exactly what they are looking for. In Minos, the story mode, at least, you descend ever deeper down into the maze, and each depth becomes more complex, more traps, more enemies, more special things that can happen. But each maze is also sort of the exact same approach. You excavate a few blocks, and hopefully they're the "right" ones, so you can create good routes. Then, you get a random assortment of traps, and you can buy some more random traps. Rinse, repeat, every round (up to 10 or so per maze), with enemies soon coming from all directions. And here's the kicker: you basically need to reset all your traps every round, because the enemy setup changes significantly. …

A nice challenge, decent voice acting and story. Great way to sink some hours into.

Excellent Tower Defense like game with unique mechanics and great ancient greek atmosphere. Roll boulders over adventurers, or trap them in a room to suffocate them. Become the monster.
