MMA Empire is a management game where I get to build my own MMA promotion from the ground up. I choose an owner background and starting city, then start putting together a roster, booking fights and trying to grow the company into something bigger. I like the idea because there are not many games that focus on the business side of MMA rather than putting me directly in the cage. It is a fairly simple setup, but there is something satisfying about starting with a small promotion and slowly trying to turn it into a serious organisation. The roster management is the part I find most interesting. I have to look at fighters, manage their development and decide which matchups make sense for my promotion. Booking fights is not just about putting two names together either, since I am trying to build a company that can keep growing. The game also keeps track of a lot of statistics, which gives me more information to work with when I am deciding what to do next. I like having that extra detail because it makes the management side feel more like an actual system instead of simply picking winners and watching numbers change.
