About MMM: Murder Most Misfortunate

MMM is a visual novel adventure with an open-ended mystery that puts your deductive skills to the test. A murder occurs in a secluded manor, and if you can't find the killer in time, you just might take the blame for the crime yourself! Gather information and search the house for clues as you form your own conclusions about the evening's mysterious events.

FEATURES

 • Multiple Endings: Finding the true killer is ideal, of course, but maybe building a plausible case against one of the other characters is good enough to get you off the hook!
 • Unique and Compelling Characters: Play as Miss Fortune, a delightfully caustic anti-heroine who has already been widowed nine times. But this time, she didn't do it (really!), and she'll have to solve the mystery herself to prove it!
 • Immersive Story: Sharply written dialog full of choices ensures a thoroughly immersive narrative.
 • Voice-acting: Each character is fully voiced, with over 1700 voiced lines throughout the game!
 • Beautiful Visuals: Detailed, searchable backgrounds and slick visual effects like rain, fog and variable lighting enhance the aesthetic experience.
 • Time Runs Short: The incompetent police are on their way. Better solve the mystery before they arrive, lest they come to their own (wrong) conclusions.

It's time to turn down the lights, settle into your favorite armchair, and put on your thinking cap for an evening of classic mystery and intrigue in MMM: Murder Most Misfortunate.

Visual novel with some very light investigative work. The writing was grammatically correct, with a few typos, and the dialogues were entertaining but sometimes clumsy. Some leaps of logic were made in the very simple mystery plot. Amateurish character art with weird, inconsistent anatomy. The valet and the contessa were particularly badly drawn. There was a clash between the clothing styles of the characters, as if they were from different time periods. Also a visual clash between the realistic backgrounds and the simple 2d anime characters. There were very few items to examine and some you should have been able to, but couldn't. I liked the suspect confrontation and revelations at the end because it reminded me of Hercule Poirot and required to pick the right choices. I replayed that section a few times to see the different endings.

EDIT: IT'S FREE ON ITCH.IO??? THIS IS A SCAM WTH !!SPOILERS!!You know, I really wanted to like this game. I really did, but it just didn't live up to what I hoped it would be. I'm a huge fan of anything murder mystery related, especially gothic mysteries. Unforuntaely, this just didn't make the cut. I was expecting a gothic mystery visual novel, but what I got was...something that looked like it could be on itch.io..for free. STORY The idea was amazing, but maybe not executed so well. The story itself is okay. The true ending is... mediocre (I haven't gotten to it myself since I didn't think it was worth it, but I've watched what happens). I honestly really thought it'd be more interesting if it was
Sherice
or even
Lia
. But it was
Horatio
. Honestly, if there's anything I hate more, it's when murder mysteries choose the most expected suspect. I mean, the whole thing with the
wiring
? it was a dead giveaway. ART I mean, I'm no Picasso over here, but I do think they could have made a better effort on the art. It made me wonder why Comtessa's head was so much smaller than the other chara…

MMM: Murder Most Misfortunate delivers an entertaining blend of classic detective storytelling and interactive visual novel design, placing players in the role of the sharp-witted Miss Fortune, a woman whose unfortunate history of outliving nine husbands has made her the prime suspect when another mysterious death occurs inside a secluded mansion. Rather than focusing on supernatural twists or over-the-top action, the game embraces the traditions of classic whodunits, inviting players to investigate every corner of the estate, question suspicious guests, and unravel a murder before the authorities arrive with the wrong conclusion. The premise immediately captures attention through its combination of dark humor, memorable characters, and genuine suspense, creating a mystery that feels engaging from beginning to end. The investigation mechanics are the game's greatest strength because they allow players to approach the mystery with a considerable amount of freedom. Exploring the mansion is more than simply moving between scenes, as every room may hide clues, overlooked evidence, or subtle details that contribute to understanding the crime. Conversations with the mansion's guests rev…

The player character is definitely not my favorite, but the actual gameplay made up for that!

A murder mystery with multiple endings. Able to play in a few hours. Not complicated in gathering clues. The voice acting aided in the enjoyment of the game.
