About Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit
Poor Molly, all your friends are stone!
Poor Molly! A sculptor’s apprentice cursed into a snake-haired Medusa – and so, every living thing she goes near instantly turns into a stone statue. Every living thing! Enemies and friends, bosses and shopkeepers, monsters and allies, even animals and small insects, they all turn to stone.
Molly’s quest takes her through a series of mystical temples, as she struggles with loneliness and alienation. Inside these temples gravity is “local”. Molly’s “down” is calculated from the surface she’s currently standing on, which means she can easily walk up walls, or upside down in the ceiling. This allows the level design to twist in on itself, and curl into labyrinths that are physically impossible. Petrified enemies accompany gravity puzzles and non-euclidean architecture, in M. C. Escher scavenger hunts.
Features
- Use your Medusa Curse to turn anything living into stone.
- Explore massive temples with interconnected passages and mind-boggling level design.
- Walk on walls! Gravity is local, and any surface can be a floor.
- Find powerful items to aid you in your journey. All items are used for puzzles, combat and boss fights.
- Sail across the Sands of Solitude for extra secrets, treasures and upgrades.
- Featuring a hard-rocking heavy metal soundtrack by Burning Planet.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... unless it's executed poorly.

[th]Pros[/th] [th]Cons[/th]

✔️ Fantastic cartoon-style graphics reminiscent of games like Zelda Wind Waker; this is visually amazing. ✔️ Puzzles and gimmicks are mostly solid, while they frequently left me scratching my head. ✔️ The voice acting is excellent, and the way everything is voiced is fantastic. ❌ There are no graphical settings at all. Nothing can be changed in terms of resolution, frames, or even V-Sync, among other things. ❌ The solution to most puzzles is frequently rather frustrating to discover. When you're stuck, there are no hints or assistance available. ❌ The gravity-bending feature is weak at best and often fails to function. The number of times I died or took damage as a result of gravity not operating properly is staggering. ❌ In the settings, there is a "no damage" option that you should definitely use. The amount of damage you receive from enemies or the environment is unreasonably high, resulting in many deaths. ❌ The game doesn't explain anything gimmick-wise, and the story is almost non-existent. What little tale there is…30 found this helpful
"Molly Medusa" is a somewhat short 3D zelda-like, imititating the art-style and gameplay of the classic and beloved "Wind Waker". While the story of the young sculptress Molly which is getting jinxed by Circe for her brash ambition is definetly charming, the added gravity-bend mechanic is as bold as it is extremely wonky and sometimes even nausea-inducing. (Entering the first dungeon it felt like I was in a M.C.Esher-Nightmare.) The camera is really floaty, hit- and grab-detection is also quite sub-par, there is overall something to be desired here. I had a somewhat fun time with it at first: The world and character-design is good, the Medusa-Curse is an interesting mechanic and the puzzles are quite nice. It also can be quite challenging at times, for everything deals an insane amount of damage (which is rare, comparing it to the good old Hyrule-boi who is more on the easy side). But in the end I gave up at the final boss out of tedium. It is a hit and miss experience and I could not recommend it at the given price. You may still give it a try on sale if you are quite jank-tolerant, and like a short 3D Zelda-like (they are as rare as they come), it definetly deserves some more…4 found this helpful
As a certified Gorgon Appreciator, I really loved this game. Most everything looks great; in particular, the cute art-style lends itself to some really fun character designs. The level design is solid, and the puzzles make you think without being too frustrating (usually). The voice acting, which I wasn't expecting this game to have at all, is surprisingly good. The soundtrack was jarring at first, but quickly grew on me; it's not at all what I expected going into the game, but it's weirdly killer?? Overall the game feels very polished... except for when it doesn't. The main offender is the camera movement, which struggles with one of the game's core mechanics and as a result ends up feeling janky and jittery. Mostly it's pretty okay; some sections are worse than others, but when it's bad, it's bad. I wouldn't say it makes the game unplayable by any means — I still thoroughly enjoyed it, but ymmv, especially if you're prone to motion sickness. If only one of this game's issues ever gets patched, it needs to be that one; any other criticisms I have are nitpicks at worst. I am still going to list them, however. I think the story would benefit from some more cutscenes …3 found this helpful
This is a fantastic Zelda-like with a very wonky camera. I mean srsly, fighting with the camera is the heaviest combat you'll be doing in this game. But if you can deal with that, this game has some finely crafted dungeons. Heavy emphasis on puzzles, and it stumped me a few times. Had to figure it out tho, bc there's very little in the way of online help for this game, currently. Which is a good thing, imo. Took me 16hrs to complete, pretty sure I found everything. This game is a heavy coat of polish away from being hidden gem status, they just need to stabilize that damn camera and get it to work in harmony with the game's physics, which are awesome. You get to walk on walls and ceilings in all the dungeons, it's crazy. Far from unplayable, nothing game breaking, and well worth the $10 I paid for it. It's very WInd Waker/Ocarina, and as a Zelda fan, I love a good Zelda clone, as long as its done right, and this one definitely is. The issues it has are forgivable due to the size of the dev team. I mean, the credit roll lasted like a minute, tops, and one person did the bulk of the work on this game. That's impressive. And the OST was dope as hell. Overall, GG, would recommend, as l…2 found this helpful
The camera sucks but the puzzles and dungeon design is generally good (even if the wall walking is fiddly) and there's like no other indie 3D zelda likes so if you can get it on sale, get it
Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit is a very terrible Legend of Zelda like game a game I couldn't even finish. Normally I beat a game before giving my review, but this game is nigh impossible to play and beat. For starters it gives me severe motion sickness to the point where I had to stop playing just to throw up and that's from I believe a little bit of the graphics, the camera and 3D movement Style. The camera is very annoying half the time you'll be fighting with the camera trying to align it with your character. Second is the 3D movement basically in temples you can climb up walls and ceiling, it was really annoying, it worked for the first temple because it was a Minotaur themed one. But when it did to the other temples that thing did Nick for the other temples it got really annoying really fast. The puzzle for the game are really annoying, there environmental puzzles like click switches and the line lights to certain points that kind of thing, some of them were clever, others were just so confusing and vague and there isn't any a guide or a hint on how to beat them like in other Legend of Zelda like games. The graphics were okay had a semi Legend of Zelda Wind Waker kind charm,…
