About Monsters' Den: Book of Vengeance

Monsters' Den: Book of Vengeance is a party-based dungeon crawler with tactical turn-based combat. Each adventure targets an enemy of humanity, a unique final boss. As you progress through the floors of the dungeon towards your confrontation, you will battle enemies from diverse factions, collect loot and make choices on how to resolve encounters within the dungeon. Build the synergies between your team's skills and equipment to enact final vengeance. Success means unlocking new campaigns and new skill trees to try in your next adventure. If you've grown attached to your party, continue to play and optimise them in the infinite mode.Taking inspiration from the fan-favourite Book of Dread, the Monsters' Den series returns to its old-school roots in this all-new title.
  • Unique skill system. Combine skill trees to create hybrid skills. Master more than 100 distinct class combinations and thousands of skill possibilities.
  • Hunt for vengeance. More campaigns and unique bosses than ever before.
  • Dynamic dungeons. Encounters can be resolved in multiple ways. Avoid alerting your enemies.. or choose to go loud.
  • Comprehensive custom portrait support. Use your own character art-- even for the monsters.

I expect a new entry in a nearly 20 year old series to use their own ****ing artists instead of AI trash

Got the game to support a small dev whose previous work I've enjoyed, development then dropped off a cliff. Do not purchase at this time, game isn't finished, art is AI, and this is less developed a title than their literal first flash game. What a shame for something that seemed to have interesting potential.

I have a heavy nostalgia towards Book of Dread, and there are still aspects of Dread I prefer that are not evidently not even existant in Vengeance yet - where did the legendary items go? Are they coming? Where's pandora's box and legendary lure? Where's the cool boss loot? I keep a critical approach as a lot of foundation is already accounted for in the series; it's the same premise as it was decades ago. In addition, some tuning on class aoe abilities could be desired - no matter which difficulty you are playing on, any area spell just ends up deleting tiles of enemies. Hunters, mages and warriors clear any of the larger packs with ease. There is little incentive to do focus fire and stacking negative effects as most fights are over in 1-3 turns. The hardest part of the game is actually the beginning, with little post-battle replenishment, no boons etc. I recognise some of the epic items from the past titles - it seems like items only exist in a base version now and therefore have no scaling to them - once you get a good item in a slot, you're set for the session. On the bright side, being able to fiddle with classes in-between and mixing is a fun little pastime, and I hope fu…

Definitely strong "Book of Dread" vibes. I enjoy that gameplay is simple enough and enjoyable. Definitely adding this to my list of games that are great on the side without too much brainpower (maybe I'm a bit sour about constantly losing on StS2 due to forgetting about something).

Highly enjoyable continuation of the classic. (I'll update this as more content is added)

Basic Dungeon hack and slash game with enough detail to keep it interseting
