This is one of those rare indie JRPGs that actually delivers on what it promises...a dark, story-driven adventure with real weight behind it. What stood out most to me was the freedom in building your party. There are so many ways to approach combat, gear, and skills that no two playthroughs will feel the same. You can go full strategy, brute force, or create some absolutely wild multi-attack builds that feel incredibly rewarding once they come together. The world itself is packed with variety..from eerie ruins to sprawling zones that make exploration feel meaningful, not just filler. And the story? It leans into that darker tone in a way that actually sticks. It’s not afraid to get heavy. Fair warning: the game doesn’t hold your hand. There are points where the difficulty spikes and you’ll need to grind, rethink your setup, or just get stronger. But once you push past that, the game really opens up and becomes hard to put down. If you’re a fan of classic JRPG systems with deeper customization and a darker edge, this is absolutely worth your time.

The story isn't good. Characters just seem to agree with the story to push the narrative forward. It's like every character is pushing the skip button. Drastic, life altering decisions get made with no examination or conflict. Betray everything about who you are, where you come from and become an international criminal. "OK, I will do that." No motivation expressed. No struggle. No convincing required. The gameplay is fine.

TLWR: An enjoyable old-school JRPG that requires some dedicated grinding at certain story junctions to be able to comfortably progress. If you like the early FFs and don't mind the grinding I'd recommend it. In Detail: At first I didn't know how I felt about it. The enemies felt too powerful but manageable. Then, when my party was for the first time split into 3 separate groups in an otherwise balck screen, the game was brutally difficult afterwards. I lost some of time. Moving forward until I had no supplies I couldnt do anything but die. I tried selecting different groups/individuals first, kept dying. I was very close to quitting and blaming bad balance. Then I rememebered a previous reviewer saying he really had to grind then it became better. I had to save after EVERY fight. I would fight once, nearly die right by the entrance, leave, use an Inn, repeat for what felt like quite some time. Once I got to lvl 10, it became doable. Then, when I finished the first of the three separate arcs, the next group of people didn't lvl up so I had to repeat this BUT the equipment aquired by the previous group made it much easier and quicker and from there the game was fun. It has to be said that all of Wolfs Moon Studios games are excellent ---- in playthrough, in value, and in game design. This one, their latest, is an overwhelming classic. Solo developer Shane Crawford has given us one of the very best old school rpgs I have seen or played. The game tells a captivating story involving world changing events as seen through the eyes of 11 interesting, well developed characters that are attempting to halt the evil and correct the untimely events. As with all games of this type, the story is critical and this one is interesting, fun, and easily captivates the player. The attention to detail is very impressive. No bugs that I found anywhere ---- just a TON of things to do, areas to explore, lands to see, dungeons to clear, monsters to battle, and a huge amount of items to collect. Then you have to consider what to do with all these discoveries, and thanks to the developer being many steps ahead of us, everything makes sense and comes together perfectly. Another great RPG from Wolfs Moon Studios. A good story, lots of characters with different, unique abilities, crafting, good game play....another solid game by Shane!
