The ability to tweak individual sound settings — like footsteps, door creaks, and environmental effects — is a really nice touch. It allows players to fine-tune their experience and adds an extra layer of depth to the atmosphere. Another major improvement is in gameplay itself. Mobility and interaction with the environment are much smoother and more intuitive this time around, making it easier to stay immersed. Mountain's Secret is a short horror adventure that I found surprisingly effective despite how simple the whole experience is. I wake up trapped inside a ruined place deep in the forest after a strange encounter while camping, and things get worse when I realize that eerie dolls are wandering around the area. I liked how quickly the game establishes that feeling of being somewhere I absolutely do not want to be. The main gameplay is focused on exploring the ruins and finding a way to escape while avoiding the dolls. I appreciated that the game does not clutter the experience with traditional puzzles or complicated systems. Instead, I spend most of my time paying attention to the environment, figuring out where I can safely go and reacting when one of the dolls gets too close. The dolls are easily the most memorable part for me. They look unsettling enough on their own, but the fact that they can interfere with my progress makes them much more than background decorations. I liked the tension of exploring normally and then suddenly having to deal with one of them. Mountain's Secret adds some explanation to the Mountain's Memory experience. Still nothing groundbreaking takes place with Mountain's Secret as it is the typical - get chased by a deadly Doll whilst trying to find useful items - required in order to escape from this ordeal. I am not a great fan of this type of game because they all seem to meld together and are usually too similar to one another that the category has becomes dull and wearisome. Although, if you recognize this as fun, then you will enjoy this game that actually has difficulty settings to select from depending on your skill level. I really appreciated the ending conversation that helped elaborate on the reasons why you just went through all the previous activity and just what the Doll and the Mountain were all about. Perhaps if there is another sequel, it could be more about exploration, discovery and puzzles, with much more narrative and much less being chased about frantically trying to obtain an uninteresting goal of merely escaping with your life.
