Light of the Mountain is a puzzle solving adventure game that tells the story of a dying man by the name of Isaac Elliot who is stranded on a mysterious island, home to giant towering mountain with a curious bright light at its peak. Isaac alone must explore the island and even the deepest depths of his own dreams in order to unlock the island's secrets and come to terms with what may very well be the end of his life - Explore the island, solve its mysteries, delve into a world of dreams, and find the meaning of the light on the mountain.
Light of the Mountain's gameplay is focused on exploration and using the game's four tools to solve various puzzles and overcome obstacles. Discover the island's many hidden secrets and locations and play out the dreams of a dying man slowly losing his grip on reality. The protagonist, Isaac, details past events in his life, his hopes, his dreams, and his regrets, as he inches closer and closer to discovering the meaning behind the light on the mountain's peak.

Light of the Mountain is a game I was curious about and was glad to be able to give it a go thanks to the generosity of a friend. What I have found so far has been a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, this is classic walking sim fare, where you wander around solving some puzzles. It is also a very beautiful game, which is a must with walking sim adventures. The actual gameplay mechanics are fine with everything handling well and no real issues that I've encountered. However, where I have an issue with this game is in its actual level design. This game is so indistinct that it is very difficult to even guess as to whether you are approaching things in the proper order, or even where to go to trigger the next section. I would like to see some sort of marker to indicate where to go next. As much as I enjoy the more open world approach, I feel it ends up with you just wandering around aimlessly, which is great for taking in the visuals, but not so great for actually trying to play through the game. At least IMO. YMMV of course. If the dev was to implement some sort of marker and/or map system though (or anythign at all that would somehow indicate progress or direction), I would defin…18 found this helpful

I would highly recommend Light of the Mountain to any adventurer who is willing to step out beyond point-and-click. Tried to give it a shot, but there's no option to invert the mouse ¬_¬. Could be a great game for all I know,but on that basis alone I cant recommend. Surely game devs realise not everyone uses the same mouse setting. If this gets fixed then I'll give it a go and hopefully can change my review to positive :)1 found this helpful
This is a good puzzle game that also requires some exploration. If you find yourself stuck, you may just need to look around or explore the area more. The music is lovely, and I enjoyed it a lot. The downside is that the story feels totally disconnected from the gameplay. There may be some metaphorical connection, but to me, it just seemed like a puzzle game with mostly unrelated narration. The only glitch I encountered was in the epilogue. Make sure you don't fall there, or save each time you make progress. Overall, I'd recommend it if you enjoy relaxing puzzle games. It's not too hard, but not too easy either. Some puzzles will make you think.
