Light of the Mountain

Light of the Mountain is a game I was curious about and was glad to be able to give it a go thanks to the generosity of a friend. What I have found so far has been a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, this is classic walking sim fare, where you wander around solving some puzzles. It is also a very beautiful game, which is a must with walking sim adventures. The actual gameplay mechanics are fine with everything handling well and no real issues that I've encountered. However, where I have an issue with this game is in its actual level design. This game is so indistinct that it is very difficult to even guess as to whether you are approaching things in the proper order, or even where to go to trigger the next section. I would like to see some sort of marker to indicate where to go next. As much as I enjoy the more open world approach, I feel it ends up with you just wandering around aimlessly, which is great for taking in the visuals, but not so great for actually trying to play through the game. Tried to give it a shot, but there's no option to invert the mouse ¬_¬. Could be a great game for all I know,but on that basis alone I cant recommend. Surely game devs realise not everyone uses the same mouse setting. If this gets fixed then I'll give it a go and hopefully can change my review to positive :)

This is a good puzzle game that also requires some exploration. If you find yourself stuck, you may just need to look around or explore the area more. The music is lovely, and I enjoyed it a lot. The downside is that the story feels totally disconnected from the gameplay. There may be some metaphorical connection, but to me, it just seemed like a puzzle game with mostly unrelated narration. The only glitch I encountered was in the epilogue. Make sure you don't fall there, or save each time you make progress. Overall, I'd recommend it if you enjoy relaxing puzzle games. It's not too hard, but not too easy either. Some puzzles will make you think.
