Photonflowers is a collection of different small stories as well as a prologue to Muv-Luv Extra With the Extra stories, we have a prequel story for each main female characters, I found them all entertaining and worthwhile(Ayamine was my favourite), but especially the sequel story serving as a prologue to Extra was really enjoyable to me. Now going to the Alternative stories... it's a mixed bag honestly some of them are just 5/10 at best, thankfully they are not very long. the ones most worth mentioning are Atonement, which is great however it's VERY short and also Confessions, which I consider to be the next greatest thing to Alternative. It had me on the edge of my seat for the whole duration and got me emotional by the end. Overall a great game and a must play for Muv-Luv fans whether you like Extra or Alternative there is something amazing here for you, I would honestly say this whole package is worth buying just for Confessions alone.7 found this helpful
Very interesting and fun reads, i liked the alternative side but mainly i liked the extra part more, i missed the original extra cast so i was very happy to see them again, sumika is the greatest

Photonflowers is a collection of side stories set in both the Extra and Alternative timelines. The Extra stories are wholesome and enjoyable, and they even include an epilogue to the Extra universe. If you liked Extra, these are definitely worth checking out. On the other hand, the Alternative side stories are especially interesting. They expand the lore of the universe and add more backstory for characters like Marimo and Isumi. Since I personally prefer Alternative over Extra, I really enjoyed reading them, especially Isumi backstory cuz she was one of my favorite characters. Overall, I’d recommend this to every Muv-Luv fan.
simply put, if you played muv luv... play this as hope
